slasherpunk8604
I thought it was good. Not that scary mind you,but good.I've never seen the 1974 version but I plan to rent it soon.

Striel
That's funny, because I thought it was crap.

Evil Dead
eh.

It wasn't crap....it wasn't great.......the remake is just an average slasher film, nothing special...nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing I really have against the movie is them throwing the TCM name on it. If you can't do it better.......why do it at all? It's sort of disrespectful to the original...........especially when all they made was a decent movie on par with most of the tripe that's coming out these days.

why on god's green ****ing earth did you watch the Texas Chainsaw remake before the original?

slayer
I agree with evil dead it was ok, but nothing special.

zombieman

Stormy Day
A really good flick I really enjoyed it and was tense the whole way through im sorry ive never seen the original and am not really planning to for now.But all and all it was really horrifying to see.And I agree with zombieman those torture scenes and where leatherface is where that guys face where done very well and at the right moment.

I was so on the edge of my seat when I was seeing leatherface chase that kid through the laundry hangline and when he cut of his leg I was just like..."Awesome!".

But I also found alot of flaws in it like you do in most every horror movie that comes out. There was alot of times where she could have tooken leatherfaces chainsaw one in particular where at the end when he and leatherface where in the locker hallways and leatherface was beeing torn up.He dropped the chainsaw and she could have picked it up and taken it with but instead she left it there and ran messed

4/5 for me it was good and worth picking up and its a thrill ride the whole way through wink

Evil Dead
these are the same comments that people were making after Friday the 13th first came out almost 25 years ago.........

now we can look back on it and say it was just an average, pointless slasher flick........made to sell popcorn. Same will be said about this remake.

The original TCM on the other hand is now 30 years old and is still being praised as one of the best horror movies ever.

Cowboyography
I thought both movies were good, Biel really helped the new, well her knockers anyhow. WOWWEEE

Evil Dead
agreed.

slasherpunk8604
Jessica Biel.Yes.
Anyway, back tot he topic.I do plan to see the first one very soon.I expect to be on the edge of my seat.

Stormy Day
Jesicca Biel was plus to the movie I agree smile

botankus
Fortunately the remake is so far off from the original it didn't completely ruin it for you.

PissedOffGoalie
the remake was ok..the original rocked

MusicChyck2233
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is actually a good movie. I like Jessica Biel and how she added pizaz!

MusicChyck2233
i havta change my avator, bye bye

Evil Dead
who's the hot chick in your avatar?

BackFire
laughing out loud

Evil Dead
that is one sexy kitten.......MEOWWWW!

BackFire
Looks like Taylor Hanson to me.

Evil Dead
Is that her name?

- googles Taylor Hanson for nude photos -

BackFire
haha, oh lord.

Striel
Jessica Biel is part of the reason why the movie was crap.

Evil Dead
um....no.......she helped the flick.........

Cinemaddiction
Only redeeming part of the movie, IMO. Throwing in that kid from "The Ring", giving him Austin Powers dentures and having him HELP the stranded kids is what ruined it.

It's the ****ing Texas Chainsaw Massacre! You don't HELP anyone!

Stormeister
Jessica Biel was light in dark film wink

Anywien
It was crap. End of story. The only credit I'll give it is that it managed to fool every one of my friends into thinking it was a true story.....Not that that's hard to do mind you....

Stormeister
it wasnt crap confused

Evil Dead
boy am I glad you came along. Here for the past 13 months the horror forum has been open we've all been sitting around discussing/debating horror films. Thank god you have come along and made that unnecissary..................finally no more talking back and fourth about a movie, we can just ask Anywien and settle a discussion before actually ever starting one.

http://www.psychopathictraders.com/forum2/images/smiles/jerkit.gif

@F1
I'm going to watch The Real Texas chainsaw Massacre, tonight on C4 UK

Dario Argento
laughing

Stormeister
Evil Dead,I dont get it confused

Evil Dead
blink

Anywien
I didn't say end of discussion, I said end of story. That means you people can still discuss it all you like, but I know it was crap and that's good enough for me.

Evil Dead
did you say something?

Anywien
Ok you want to get technical, replace the word "say" in my last post with "state", and "said" with "stated". Happy?

Stormeister
Evil Dead, dont disrespect her opinion just because you dont like it sad

Evil Dead
ahahaha

I have too much fun messing with new people on here.....

I really could care less about her opinion........I was merely mocking some new person coming into the forum and stating, "end of story".....like because this person rolls in with their opinion, it is somehow greater than everybody elses so now that we've got her opinion, discussion closed....nothing more needs to be said.

tabby999
end of story? wink

@F1
Whats the word for sayings such as, end of story and at the end of the day and you dont have to be a rocket science

Em, anyway I saw the Real Texas chainsw Massacre John Kleason, last night, and it had nothing to do with the movie, apart from he shot two people in Texas. But they couldn,t pin it on him, because of a Technicality, you americans and your bloody Technicalities, so they got him done for lesser offences. He did 9 years then he was released, and the you know what, he came to my beloved country United Kingdom, and the USA, didn,t disclose any information to our authortities, because they were under know obligation to do so, WHAT! he's a bloody lunatic. anyway after terrorising an english community for a while and a poor old lady he married, because she thought he was a war hero, and a really nice fellow. He was finally caught out when he threatened to blow some ones head off because he kicked him out of the gun club. And some IT kid found out about his past on the internet. The Texas Authorities found new evidence that he did it, about 20 years later, and he was once again locked up. Hooray. (There wasn't even a chainsaw)

Stormeister
Evil Dead,it was merely a figure of speech and thats no way to treat a newbie confused

BackFire
The new TCM was crappy and unnecessary, end of story.

Stormeister
right..... wink

tabby999
you see hes allowed to, hes a mod wink

Cinemaddiction
It's a right of passage here on the Horror forums. It's a rather "No Holds Barred" type environment, here.

End of story.

Now it's official, bitches.

Stormeister
ok...... confused

Evil Dead
I love C-dic.......

bitches.

DenKi
They never found his body did they? all they found was the piece of footage of him attackin those police guys

Stormeister
I think so, that in my opinion is one of the freakest parts of the remake because its actual footage erm

SlipknoT
* sigh* No it's not, it's fake just like the movie.

DenKi
No, thats parts Real

Wolfie
Though I never saw the original TCM, I really enjoyed the remake.

SlipknoT
No it isnt. Nothing in the movie is real

Stormeister
yeah it is wink

Cinemaddiction
The entire movie is pure fiction. Should you chose to realize that is up to you, but your credibility on these forums will be forever marred.

I don't know how many times we've been down this road before, too many, that I can unfortunately attest to.

The movie is loosely based on the exploits of Ed Gein, a Wisconsin farmer who has his cover blown in 1957. They found furniture made of human skin, bowls made out of bone, yadda, yadda, yadda.

No chainsaw, it wasn't set in Texas, he's only credited with 4 murders, etc. Do I need to go on, or do you people believe that there was a family of cannibalsitic psychopaths living in the Texas outskirts, tax free, under the radar, who hacked people up, shoved them on meat hooks, and had a mentally invalid son who wore dead skin masks all day, who chased people around with a Chainsaw?

BackFire
Please read this over and over untill it sinks in. I'll reiterate the main point, nothing in either of the TCM films is real, nothing.

Stormeister
I never said that he had a chainsaw or that he had a cannibalistic family or that he killed 5 teens when they broke down in the middle of nowhere.I merely stated that I believed that the ending clip was real.

Evil Dead
Jesus Christ on a stick.........here we go again.

DenKi
plz give us eviedence that it is not real.......................................................................................

Cinemaddiction
Evidence? Is common ****ing sense not enough? Give me evidence that it is real, in that case.

Got another shocker for ya, the Easter Bunny? Fake. Santa? A myth. The Tooth Fairy? It's your parents, one of which has a secret fetish for rotting baby teeth.

No shit.

geek

This is the first time you used the word "believed", though. The other times you were implying that it in fact was real.

SlipknoT
It can not be real because the guy Ed Gein did not attack the cops, and did not bring down kids into the basement where he put them on meat hooks. You need to realize IT IS NOT REAL.

Stormeister
Thats because I dont know for sure it was real but it doesnt seem to far-fetched to think its not I mean all it was was a guy coming at the police men then it ended erm

Have you been Studying my post? What the f**k?

Cinemaddiction
You know me, lol. geek

There's just a big difference between stating a fact as a fact, and stating something as a matter of opinion, soley based on what it "appeared" to be.

The keyword in the movie's disclaimer, "based", alone tells you the footage wasn't real. On top of that, the police footage would have been shot with a "Super 8", 8 mm handheld video camera, the same camera the original TCM was shot with. The footage shown at the beginning of the movie boasted the quality of that of digital video, with a grainy, superimposed "worn" filter, to make it look real.

Trust me, I can be as analytical as I have to be to get people to realize this is all a hoax.

pooperman
the first one was hilarious. It was retarded. I enjoyed the killings in the new version.

pooperman
evil face evil face confused zorro wacko yes What the f**k? pirate rock rock

botankus
Hilarious = retarded? For TCM? Cine-man, you want to take this one?

Also, I'm a big proponent of expressing thoughts and ideas through words instead of smilies, but this last post above this one confused the hell outta me.

Cinemaddiction
Kid's got me confused on this on this one, so I can't exactly say what I am feeling.

There wasn't anything funny about the movie. The only laughter I think this movie could produce would be nervous laughter, just because the more you get into the movie, mentally, the more and more realistic it comes across.

Not that such a family exists, knowing this movie is loosely based on real events, it's just Tobe Hooper's presentation of the situation and characters that seems like an average day gone wrong, just by making a "Wrong Turn". Pun intended.

It's just a bare bones, spooky horror movie that maintains a real sense of urgency and realism throughout the whole movie, and doesn't need special effects, scary backdrops, or creepy background music to heighten the mood.

As for the 2003 TCM, in comparison, it's a very dramatic, easy going, and simplsitic rehash of the original. There was no tension, as the kids were just conveniently picked off. It was fully of jump scares to make up for the lack of creepiness rooted in realism embodied by the original.

There is no redeeming qualities to the remake, IMO. Other than Jessica Biel showing that she really can act, and had "Scream Queen" movies not died out in the 80's, along with JLC's horror movie career, Biel would wear the crown with credibility.

Stormeister
I know she screamed alot messed

@F1
I know now the TCM is complete fabrication, it was so long ago when I saw the original, but I'm sure it was hyped to be a true story. But I was very young and beleived anything at the time. I saw a Documetary the other night about the real TCM and it has no comparisons to the movies, apart from someone killed someone else in Texas.

Stormeister
yeah but thats hollywood for ya wink

ladygrim
1st one was crap remake was crap sorry

Stormeister

Cinemaddiction
..and how do you know it's going to please people until you put it out there? You don't. I'd tread lightly if I were you, praising movies like "POTC", while shitting on the original "TCM", in a Horror forum of all places.

Stormeister

Cinemaddiction

FeceMan

DeNiro
Well The remake was a decent remake the only thing i liked better about it then the original was probaly the way it was shot with new cameras because you got to see things better and also the part where the guy got his leg cut off and you see him tortured was a good chilling scene but other then that it shouldnt be compared with the orig tcm but i still found it enjoyable t watch for fun

and also evil said the f word in a previous post on the first page and it was uncensored so i wanted to try it ****ing green earth

DeNiro

Orlando Bloom is a hot little piece of ass.............don't deny it. He looks like a 16 year old girl just coming into her prime.

§words point

Cinemaddiction
With that child molester mustache and point nose, he looks like a sewer rat. But, maybe that just adds to his "disturbingness", as S.P. would put it.

Evil Dead

Stormy_Day

Spicy_Mchaggis
actually orlando is bisexual so you were half right.
the remake of texas chainsaw massacre is the bloodiest movie in history, the second is passion of the Christ.

Cinemaddiction
"TCM" (2003) isn't shit. Apparently you've never seen "Dead Alive."

Stormy_Day
I dont know the Passion was bloody confused

Cinemaddiction
Guess you've never seen "Dead Alive", either?

Stormy_Day
No I havent....not into low-budget independent films if thats what it is erm

SlipknoT
The TCM remake isn't bloody at all. If the TCM remake was a porno and how much blood there was determined how harcore it was, then the TCM remake would be a really softcore porn.

m. myers
The remake doesn't beat the original, but what I did like about the remake is that leatherface is more of the main killer. In the original his family is in control, in the remake his rules go. evil face

§nakehead
the passion is one of the gorest movies of all time. Hard to expect for a christian movie. I was quite surprised how bloody it was.

§nakehead
your quite right, all the gores really implied. hell chucky was more gory.

§nakehead
very true, he was always being bossed around in the first now he in charge.

Stormy Day
I dont like when horror movies rely on the gore and violence.TMC remake relied more on psychological scares, chase scenes and such.
