AIC were amazing, there are very few bands I like more than them. Dirt is one of those albums that will never age.

Alice_In_Chains

Turbo-Cajun
You guys will probably shit on me in this thread, but I really didnt like their music all that much. I mean some of it was pretty decent, some of it wasn't too sweet though. I'm not some 14 yr old girl either that hasnt ever heard of them, I like a lot of other shit that most people accept as good music. I like Pink Floyd, GNr is good, The Eagles, NIN, Tool, and am pretty open and accepting of most other talented artists's stuff...Im not into lame ass music like Blink 182, or Avril Lavigne, or Nelly or any other of the thousands of talentless artists out there; i appreciate good music. I just don't understand statements like "best band in the world" and "pure genius" when you are talking about Alice in Chains, I mean I have Man in the Box, I've listened to it all, maybe i just am missing something, but I dont think that they are "the greatest" anything. What in particular do you guys like so much? Maybe if you showed me a piece of lyrics written out that were significant to you or pointed out a good instrumental riff that you thought was particularlly artistic maybe that would change something, but I dunno about them...

Alice_In_Chains
everyones entitled to their own opinion.
but mayb as u said u r missing something.
for me wen i heard Alice' for the first time the power in Staleys vocals just blew me away. you can tell the lyrics are from his heart and thts wat i like about Alice'.

loserib
checkout the lyrics to rooster its about jerrys cantrle dads stint in veitnam and by perfect i mean the band complamented each other better then most bands

I think Alice In Chains were an incredible band altho im prolly not as big a fan as most of you I can apreciate what they have done for music i also thing that their 'sound' was also quite original ( not that im some music guru or anythin) and the lyrics were obviously filled with feeling and emotion smile I think its a shame that they dont get enough recognition

Radio X has "Them Bones" on it - plus a bunch of same-era stuff.

Alpha Centauri
I love Alice in Chains.

The best band to come out of Seattle save for Soundgarden I think.

true true

Alice in chains may not get the recognition they deserve but time wont make them fade away like it does to so many other bands. They'll be one of those bands our kids'll call oldies and they'll deserve it. I don't love all of their songs but there's a good 75% of them that just make them what they are to me (a good thing that is). I'd say they're one of the few good bands that are underrated.

yes. that's a shame. too bad alice in chains isn't a band anymore. they were great. too bad jerry cantrell isn't coming out with new solo stuff. like his collabs i see on soundtracks.

Lana
Love AIC....one of the many bands I grew up on, courtesy of my mom.

I stick by the comment I made last year yes

And I grew up on the Jackson Five, Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes so suck on that cool

BOPRecruit 16
are there any alice in chains concerts on dvd?

there's the mtv unplugged dvd...layne's eyes are freaky on it cause he is totally frazzled on heroin...it was, in my opinion, the best of all the unplugged sets...totally destroyed the nirvana, clapton and everyone else

there is also the music bank dvd but thats a collection of video's rather than a live gig

BOPRecruit 16
i think i'll get both. definitely want the music video ones. probably have to get those off of amazon.

also. heard jerry cantrell is coming out with a new solo album sometime next year.

mr.smiley
For a long time I never got into AIC.Then one day it just kind of hit me and now I love them.

BOPRecruit 16
not sure if anyone has heard this yet...well, about a week ago. on the radio during fm 107.7 the bone's metal zone, the dj announced that alice in chains is back. they are currently touring with metallica in england or something. after hearing that, i was totally cyked. and went to check up on this news at vh1. although i haven't read the articles yet, seems like they are going to do some summer gigs. well, read those on your own time and look them up. oh yeah! forgot to mention that, of course, jerry is frontman/lead singer right now. the dj said they sounded awesome. i bet they do. jerry has a good voice.

mr.smiley
I would love to see a big tour happen. It sucks Layne is gone, but I would still love to see the remaining members come back and do a big tour.

Alpha Centauri
It's not Alice in Chains without Layne.

I realise this is a bit unfair considering it was more or less all Cantrell's writing, but Layne's voice isn't beneath many people and he was the conduit conveying all the emotion in those songs.
