I know this won't be a popular post, but I think for the series to have a really strong ending, that Harry should die. But, somehow, Voldemort dies too, and Harry dies a martyr?

i dont want anyone to die. but if someone does die...i think it will be ron.. the description said an important character will die...and look at all the clues. first of all when harry and ron and the staff sat down for christmas dinner, professor trelawny said there were thirteen sitting down so the first one to get up was the first one to die and harry and ron both got up at the same time. but it cant be harry because its only the 6th book and the series is named after him. second is not noticable as a clue but it is. ms weasley sees her family one by one dead. its not much but i still think that its a little clue.and ron was made prefect so if he diesharry would become head boy. which in the end would make a good ending. thats all i got so far but im looking into it

The point wasn't about the veil. Anyway, it seems to me she is following the Lord of the Rings enough to indicate she will have Harry defeat the dark lord, and his scar will continue to bother him, and then he will go off to the havens.

Although there are certain similarities between HP and LOTR - there are similarities between HP and Nancy Drew. You can't just go and compare one author to another and say that's that.

Hello, this is my first post on this thread! I think Professor McGonagall is the one who will die. I really don't want her to die, but I think it makes the most sense. I am listing the reasons why I think she will die below.

1. She is Dumbledore's second banana. (Deputy Headmistress)
2. She is the head of Gryffindor.
3. She is one of Harry's mentors and a Grandmother-like figure to Harry.
4. She is old. I don't think Jo will kill off another student unless there are other adult deaths. Since she is getting to be a bit older, I think Jo will kill her off because it will fuel Harry's anger and it will give him more reason to carry out her wishes of him. (i.e. OofP, Chapter 29 "Career Advice": McGonagall says to Harry "Potter...I will assist you to become an Auror if it is the last thing I do!" Think about that, people.
5. I think McGonagall will die trying to save one of her students. We know that she was seriously injured while trying to protect Hagrid last year, and perhaps she will rush into battle without thinking and get hit with a fatal curse.
6. She was alive during the last war, and it is very possible that she could be a target for a Death Eater who has a grudge against her or her family.
I'm sure there are many other reasons why McGonangall might be the next victim, but I can't think of the at the moment. Feedback is appreciated.

She already ran into a battle where she was outnumbered and in the dark to try and help Hagrid, and she almost died then.

yup!i was thinking that too...we know that either voldemort or harry has to die,so what i think is (if it's a 'happy' ending) dumbledore'll die defending harry while harry kills voldemort or both harry n he will die and the end of the wizarding world as we know it will come.

Then who could it be? They way I see it, it is Percy is being attack, Mr.Weasly and him get over their fight and tries to help him, Percy says sorry and told everyone he was sorry about not believing them, and dies. But that is just my guess.

I want Professor Umbridge to die, even though i doubt she will even be in the books anymore. This is because i hate people like her in real life and they really get on my ****, i just feel like shoving thier teeth so far down their throat that they'll have to sit on food to eat it!
