BEP's been around since 1998, kiddo. The group is in a class of their own, and honestly don't deserve to be labeled, as they truely original. "Elephunk" is one of the best Hip Hop albums of the past decade.

I LOVE THE BLACK EYED PEAS!!! They are original and not like a lot of the other groups. ive seen them live and they are really good!! plus fergie is really hott lol!!!

They are OK. They have never been really underground are hardcore so to see them in the charts now is not such a leap. Sure they have gone more commercial over the years but their message remains pretty positive, which is rare in commercial hip hop. I know I'd rather have my kids listening to BEP if they're gonna listen to hip pop than pricks like 50cent and G-Unit talking about murdering each other.
I prefer the older BEP albums but even they could have charted if they had the girl in the band then. I think she is the main reason people think they have sold out and I'm inclined to agree but their music was always destined for the charts once they had a big enough audience.
Sorry AC some people just want fun music that they can nod their head to and sing along, not everyone wants to increase their IQ when listening to music. Just let them be.
