Just don't settle for an okay job unless you NEED to, but keep looking for a better one if you have to settle for that okay one, which of course is just to pay the bills until you get the good one. I went today to Deep Pan Pizza, and omg i was stunned. There were only peole ages 19 - 25 all sexeh and all students...a lot of guys, few girls...id love to get a job there!! droolio Even if they dont pay much!

I got one doing sales, but that's not the kind of thing that someone as shy as I am is very good at doing...but I may have a job doing graphic design, one of my neighbors (who I babysit for) is an architect and is in the process of starting her own business and wants to hire me to do all the graphic design elements

Im hoping to get a job in photography at some point, i wanted to study it originaly, but my mom gave me a lecture of ''not being able to get a good job after that degree'' so im doing it now in my spare time!

Oh, how many times I've gotten that lecture when I announced that I was going to study graphic design...which is why I'll probably back it up with a minor in political science or something equally cool but random.

I don't care if it's hard to find a job for what I study, if it's what I wanna do I'll do it

It's hard to find a job that you just want for the summer, because most people want someone who can stay on for a long period of time, atleast thats how it is here.

Its exactly the same here, which is the main problem for me.

There are people who might wanna hire me....but id have to lie a little and not say its for the summer only.

i've never had to "find a job" in my life. My parents refused to have me be the guy that rents them videos and/or makes them their sandwhiches at Subway.

Right after high school, i asked my dad for help. I asked if he had any friends or aquaintences that would be able to help me get a summer job, and being a 49 year old man....he had people he could ask for me.

I ended up getting a job where he worked, husseled my ass off at that job, then got promoted, then left that job, because another friend of his saw potential in a young kid, that he could sort of underpay and sculpt, so here I am now.


A LOT!!!!! of people never think to ask their parents if they would be able to ask a friend or someone for a job. It's usually not what you know...it's who you know. And getting a good word put in from a family member is infinitly more helpful than handing in a resume.

Summer jobs are sort of different though. As Lindsay said....most people want you long term.

Well I cant run to my mom all the time. I live away from home, and for a good job, im going to university.

Next year im going to America for 6 weeks, and I'll see if i like it there at all, if i do, i might well move.


My idea job would be as a photographer, but im also hoping to be a lawyer...and for that, i need a degree.

be a lawyer just for the money then be a photog on the side to fulfill your creative side...who knows, you might end up being the best photog in the field...but you'll never know unless you try...

Yep, lying is definately the way to go when it comes to hooking up a job. When I got my tv job, they asked me if I watched the news a lot. I told them I watch the news every day and that is the only reason why I know what is going on with current events around the world. This was at a time when I didn't even have cable. But I got the job and became one of the best photographers they had. When I left, they said I could have my job back if I chose to move back home.

I only get 50 dollars a week and I work in a coffee shop, I use to work at Dominos Pizza but it sucked........

Yeah, actually, I got few tips this evning

I hate it overall, its not an amazing pub to work in, i also got a job at 'Jumpin Jacks' but that involves me dancing as well as serving drinks which aint gonna happen.

I guess its a job, gets me extra money and i get tips too, so droolio its ok, till i find something better!

$8:00 an hour is more then minimum wage here, it's considered a decent amount of cash for someone in college or high school looking for a part time job. It's more then I make at the moment working part time.

The cost of living is much higher in the UK.
Most things cost 2x as much over there.

$8.00 may not seem bad here but over there where everything is more expensive it would be more like $4.00.
