Hi all,

I've designed this thread so that people can chip in with interesting ideas that were ultimately dropped from Bond films.

E.g. Did you know that an original draft of AVTOK had zorin manipulating the trajectory of Haley's comet?

And did you know that originally DAF was to feature Gert Frobe as Goldfinger's brother? His first line was to have been: "I think you knew my brother Auric. Mother always said he was a bit retarded"

Felix has been played by many different actors but only one did him twice

I am somewhat surprised by the inconsistensy in Felix. E.g. in one incarnation {in "Goldfinger"} he was played by an old man. In another, strangely enough, he was even played by an African-American. It's just weird.

Anyway, does anyone have some thoughts on what COULD have been?

it supports the theory that Felix is a codename for the agent that keeps contact with Mi6...

and could? they could have kept the story in that Goldfinger is related to SPECTRE (apperently you see in one shot his spectre-ring), guess that got kicked too

There's a deleted scene in DAF where Plenty sneaks back into Bond's room while himself and Tiffany are getting it on and steals some info that leads to the house where she ends up eventually drowned in the swimming pool...

they should have kept that one in

Yeah, it ties up nicely how Plenty ended up at the house in the first place and, more cruelly ironic, one swimming pool saved her life and another one took it...

but that's the problem with cut scenes... out cause of time and some were too great to delete

As it is, you think: "How the hell does Plenty know who Tiffany is, where she lives, and why is she dead in her swimming pool"? Until I found out about the deleted scenes a while back, this always confused me...

Fair enough... but the reason why she was sunk to the bottom of the pool? Unless you knew that there was a deleted scene showing Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd finding Plenty, mistaking her for Tiffany, and drowning her, her death makes nada sense...

Blofeld was to originally have been playecd by a Czech actor in "you only live twice", Jan Weirich, but he fell ill a few days into shooting, and so he was recast...

and recast in the multiple movies afterwards... something seriously wrong with that idea

I don't think that's entirely fair. James Bond as a character is just, well, different, in OHMSS. Lazenby was at least more believable than Moore, if a lot less fun...

he looks ugly, he acts terrible and OHMSS is terrible ... though the point of bond being married once is great

I don't agree with you about his acting, but I too am always left quite cold by OHMSS. I can't quite put my finger on it...

Anyway, back to the topic. Did you know that Major Amasova from TSWLM was originally going to cameo in Moonraker, so impressed were the producers by her performance...

Wonder why that never materialised...

This is why, despite the movie having a good plot with Blofeld as the main foe, is the one of the worse Bond films in history IMO. A total miscast with Lazenby.

that girl playing melina in FYEO was asked earlier too but she couldn't cause of another movie

Look... I don't think it's fair to say I have a "screw loose". I'm perfectly entitled to have an opinion that differs from yours. I happen to think Lazeny was a good bond. If you don't, fine. But c'mon - do you really believe Roger Moore and his eyebrow were more believable as the James Bond of the novels?

Oh, and I realise that Lazenby was australian. But Connery was scottish {which is how he played Bond, as in every single movie he's even been in. I laughed so much in "The Hunt For Red October: "To victory, comradeshhh..."}

I agree with you. I much prefer Moore. BUT - I still think he was less believable as the Bond from the novels...

Bond isn't as serious as you may think. He has a humorous side. Moore filled that void where Sean couldn't. I still say that Sean was the better Bond. He's #1, Moore #2, Bronsan #3, Dalton #4...etc.

and imo, Moore totally overdid the humor side of it

The usual OHMSS bashing I see...thankfully I don't run with the herd. To be honest, though, Moore was smart enough to realise how ridiculous some of his films were. I mean, gondolas that turn into hovercrafts? Pigeons doing double takes? Tarzan yells? It's just a bit much...

they cancelled a scene where they explained how bond changed appearance to Dalton too... it's a trend

That would have set up the tone of DAF with an even more vicious edge, would'nt it? As it is DAF pushes the boundaries for a PG...homosexual villains...a fight scene that's always cut out of English TV prints...Bond getting a right kick in the balls...a bad guy graphically going up in flames...a camp, bewigged villain...

Bond didn't really seem all that upset with Blofeld in DAF did he? Bizarre, considering he killed his wife...

Well...he topped him at the start - *Welcome to hell, Blofeld* - after kicking the crap out of worldwide bad guys and nearly strangling poor ol' Marie with her own bikini top...so 'tis no wonder he was a bit bemused later on when he ran into TWO of them and their pussies...

Look, first of all, their review of DAD wasn't actually very glowing {a mere 3 stars}. And second of all, whatever they may say in their reviews, there is no denying that they are one of the biggest and most popular film mags, and so, yes, most reputable.

First of all, I am somewhat baffled by the implication that a half filled in profile somehow makes me a child. In case you didn't know, I'm 18 - so I'd appreciate it if you treated me as an adult. If you're really interested, I didn't fill in my profile because I didn't really feel it was a big deal - but honestly, that's none of your damn business.

Perhaps I was wrong to equate Hotdog's popularity with its good reputation, sure; but I'll have you know that I'm a subscriber to that mag, and one of the reasons I {and, from what I see from the letters page, many others} do so is because in each issue they accurately report on a wide number of issues, sometimes a month ahead of their leading competitors.

Oh now I'm sorry if I didn't feel the need to explain this all to you; but whether I did or not, I can certainly do without condescending comments about "pictures" and "B-I-G words".
