The suit looks great, although it looks more like the suit from "ESB" and "RoTJ" than the suit from "ANH."

really, this is great, vader's new costume, or new i think, has silver, and his helmet, the part that slopes outward isn't as much as and angle it is more straight now.

the new Vader`s costume has a big diference....

it has no shoulders, they are part of the chest plate

Is it just me or does the new suit look more...streamlined than it was in the OT? Now obviously the suit had to be adapted for Hayden's slimmer build, but in comparison to the original suit it seems to look so much cooler. But this makes you ask why these changes were made from the end of Ep III to the beginning of a New Hope. Someone already stated how the helmet seems straightened and the hints of silver in the face plate, but the other shots show the chest plate which looks much smaller than I remember it being in the OT. Oh well, looks badass to me!

his shoulder looks like it has silver, i don't recall ever seeing silver in the others, is it new?

At least judging by these pictures we can tell that Palpatine changes his appearance AFTER Vader gets born so the rumours of Vader using the darkside to mutate him might be true.

about the suit, the first vader was very tall, i don't think this actor that plays anikan is that tall, but they just wanna make it cooler, cuz now'a'days, we have more equiptment and stuff, 20 years ago, that was the coolest ever, now it needs a change.

have you noticed that the people in the movies and there everyday items start to get more sophisticated in this order, from episode 4 to 5 to 6, jumps much earlier to episode 1 then 2 then 3.

in the second they have alot more high-tech stuff than in episode six and six comes after.

just something to add to that suit thing.

the point is explaining the ways in which the empire is bad.

for one, there is no advancement in technology...unless the purpose is blowing up planets.

just another way to illustrate how everything goes to s***.

and vader will still be tall, hayden will be wearing...heels...stilts...platform shoes? whatever it is, he will be wearing it, thus he will be tall.

the advance ment in technology for everyone goes from the 4-6 then back to 1-3.

all the hover cars and hand held tv things that mace windu had aren't in the 4-6, not as many or as cool anyway.

Palpatine is following vader to the set. Is the one with a gray head. You can see that even when anakin is already in black suit, McDiarmid seems to wear his own ugly face

Just so ya know the pic Ghetto Goblin posted is Fan Made it's been around a long time.

The "ANH" Darth Vader costume:
-Armor looked dull black
-Upper chest plate all black
-Helmet had red lenses
-The cloak went over the upper torso plate

The "ESB & RoTJ" Vader costume:
-Armor looked glossy black
-Upper chest plate striped black and silver
-Helmet had black lenses
-The cloak went under the upper torso pate

If you analyze the "RoTS" Vader suit, you will see that is closer resembles the "ESB & RoTJ" suit than it does the "ANH" suit, which doesn't make sense. Why would he have that suit in "RoTS," make a few changes in "ANH," then change it back in "ESB" and "RoTJ?"

Still, I agree that it does look badass.

I have to agree with there NOT being any continuity with this Vader, It is WAY more ROTJ than even close to ANH,
You also forgot to mention the ANH has a point that comes down the middle on the dome, As well as a smaller bottom vent, ESB and ROTJ cut off the point and made the vent bigger, There was NO red lenses in any of the helmets....

I don't think it matters much, no need to be anal on specifics, its the image of Vadar that matters and as far as we know at the moment, we'll only see Vadar in the suit for the very end part of the movie.

dunno if anyone is interested at all, but a small chain called movie gallery will prolly have the OT DVDs available for rental within the next 3 weeks.

How is that possible? Don't get me wrong, that would be way cool, but officially they are not supposed to be released until Sept. Just wondering how they could do that.

Continuity and movie flow IS important, But again Lucas does not like ANH very much so I guess your right it does not matter much to him ...

And I've been hearing that Vader may even get more screentime then anticipated...which hopefully will be true.

again don't want to interrupt the flow of topics, but according to the clerk, they have a deal with certain studios to get movies at least one month ahead of time. the chain is called movie gallery. unfortunately, the one i go to (i'm not aware of others in the state) is a formerly independent rental place that used to be called video update and they're still "modernizing" it (ie. selling really great old VHS movies and very slowly replacing everything with DVD, except the porn, they have more porn then anything). so on the one hand, they're current selection is pretty bare, on the other, i can attest to seeing Hellboy there on June 28th (still haven't seen it, debating wether i should). so will they have it? I'll check em out in mid august and report my findings.

Hmmmm we have a movie gallery here and they never get anything any earlier that the official dvd release date.

ok guys, honestly does it matter THAT much if the suit is glossy, not glossy...I mean really who gives a damn? I find it hard to believe that ANYONE is going to be sitting there watching ROTS and at the moment Vader appears their first reaction is going to be..."well the suits all wrong"

has anyone ever thought that vader has several suits and masks that he changes like clothing, or that he may have changed suits after they were damaged at the end of ANH and ESB? I'm pretty sure that several of the jedi he hunted down got enough good shots in to at least require him to make a few changes and replacements to the suit in the 20 years between episode III and IV.

Does anyone else feel...I don't know...somewhat different about seeing the Vader suit now that we've seen E1 and E2 and enough BTH shots from E3 to see Anakin make the full transition to the dark side....there's just something different now about seeing Vader

Davesmolo, I agree. Those recent pics of Vader bound by the wrist as Palpatine talks to him are odd because I felt sorry for him!? as he looks down and then to Palpatine. No wonder he was so mad onboard the tantive IV in ANH after the way he had been treated.

I believe the silver is to pay homage to Darth Raider and Raider Fan as this irrepressible band of nitwits have singlehandedly kept the whole Darth Vader thing going all these years even when everyone forgot about it in the late 80's to mid 90's.

The burnt Ani pic was supposed to be a composite of several real burnt pics. Some said the right arm was a giveaway that it was a fake because his arm was severed above the elbow. Others said if you look closely you can see that it is not his arm but part of his charred sleeve.
