Rate them

Personally my two favorite Connery movies are FRWL and DAF but I also like Dr. No and Goldfiner, YOLT struck me as odd because its kinds stupid to became a ninja IMO, I did like thunderball but too long for my taste.I rate them now

FRWL = 10/10
DAF = 9/10
Goldfinger = 9/10
Dr. no = 8.5/10
Thunderball= 8/10
YOLT= 8/10
NSNA= 6.5/10

Reborn Again
Goldfinger 9/10 -- storyline and complexity of villain
YOLT 9/10 -- storyline and complexity of villain (intro of Blofeld)
Dr. No 8/10 -- storyline and villain
DAF 8.5/10 -- storyline and villains
Thunderball 8/10 -- storyline and villain
NSNA 7/10 -- storyline and villain
FRWL 6/10 -- storyline (the villain sucked!)

The Redeemer
DAF A big ten.
FRWL Another big ten.
THUNDERBALL Nine.
GOLDFINGER Eight.
YOLT Seven.
DR NO Six.
NSNA sick

DAF (and non-Connery OHMSS) are my two FAVOURITE Bond films but in terms of top notch quality I think FRWL is the best of the series...as I've said before, it's a great film in it's own right and one of THE best films of the '60s IMO...

phinney6
Yerssot hates DAF for some reason or another, maybe its because he wanted to be bond just couldn't cut it? hehehehe

Ahnold
Out of interest, why do you like DAF so much? I mean, I always thought that English Blofeld was a bit naff...

The Redeemer
Not to speak ill of those serving queen and country, but I think not getting the part as either Mr Wint or Kidd had something to do with it... whistle

Ahnold
What are you implying?!

phinney6
blink

Ock
Goldfinger is the definitive James Bond movie.

The Redeemer
I was actually evilly joking on Yerss' dislike of DAF and NOT P6's appreciation of it... wink

phinney6
stick out tongue

Evy_O
I can't rate them sad I dunno if I'd give a 10 to something, I can't say that one of them is perfect messed

The Redeemer
None are, er, up to date enough for you... eek!

yerssot
FRWL = 8/10 (one of the best)
DAF = 4.5/10 (very stupid story, and he looks too old)
Goldfinger = 7/10 (a nice one)
Dr. no = 7/10 (he wasn't in it yet)
Thunderball= 7/10 (he got into bond in this one)
YOLT= 7/10 (same)
NSNA= 0/10 (not official)

The Redeemer
So you REALLY DON'T like DAF... sad

yerssot
it just failed, it's not that bad wink

The Redeemer
"This...is the price of failure...Mr. Bond!!!"

yerssot
well, the price apperently is that they still show the movie

The Redeemer
YOLT???

yerssot
DAF! what other sucky movie is there from Sean stick out tongue

The Redeemer
NSNA??? whistle

yerssot
but it's not official stick out tongue

phinney6
f What the f**k?

yerssot
what?

phinney6
FRWL only got 8/10

Shadow_King
now even though sean is scottish he portrayed James bond the best.

phinney6
YOu have a thing agianst Scots?

Shadow_King
no i was just saying hes a scots and he portrayed an english double 00 agent good. and he was also knighted and thats cool.

yerssot
so what? Pierce is irish, Lazenby is australian and Dalton is from Wales

phinney6
I'm (the next bond) from America. hehe

yerssot
sure thing no expression

kalsolar
Goldfinger is in my view overall the best of the connery bonds as it had all the ingredients to not only entertain the serious bond fan but the casual movie goer too. Goldfinger was made even better by the fact that it is a good 20 minutes shorter than most bond films and a good 10 minutes or more shorter than the next shortest. This keeps it that little bit lively and less laden with meandering dull scenes that add little.
9 out of 10

As for connerys other bonds....

Dr. No. well, it had its budget constraints, and seems a little sedate by todays standards, but never the less a good solid movie. 6 out of 10

From Russia with love: Good acting, good story, great movie. 7 out of 10

Thunderball : looked great, an excellent movie really, but sadly too long and a little too dull. The underwater stuff was great, but a little too much of it. Sadly, the action scenes on dry land were all over all too quickly and did'nt leave much of a lasting impression. 6 out of 10

You only Live Twice: A very entertaining bond...slipping a little further into the realms of fantasy and silliness at times though. The space-ship effects (taking off and landing) are awful, even by the standards of the day. A decent film overall though. 7 out of 10

Diamonds Are Forever.

Has its moments, some good characters, but is just too silly. The pre-credits sequence looks as if it was all filmed in one day and rushed.
5 out of 10

Evy_O
I mostly agree, except I'd give Goldfinger 8, FRWL an 8.5 and Thunderball a 7 big grin

Ahnold
And so it automatically gets a 0 out of 10 stick out tongue ?!

yerssot
yes, I'm hard in this stick out tongue

btw, kalsolar, Goldfinger still holds the record for best second sequal big grin

Reborn Again
Yes and no. Goldfinger is #3 in the James Bond movie line-up, but according to the way movies are made these days Goldfinger isn't a sequel, as it tells a completely different story then FRWL & Dr. No, never pretending to the movies before it. FRWL is a sequel as Spectre wants revenge for the death of Dr. No. But Goldfinger is not. No mention of Dr. No or Spectre in the entire movie. Not like the novel which does.

yerssot
I didn't make the rules RA, it's what boxofficemojo said wink

Kaleanae
I saw From Russia with Love, I like that movie I don't know if is the best one of Sean Connery's movies but I like it stick out tongue

Also, I didn't know that Sean Connery dropped out of school and that was why he was mocked in Saturday Night Live messed
I just read it in a place talking about annoying people

Evy_O
I didn't know either... he was mocked? cry

Kaleanae
He was in Saturday Night Live - Here is the quote

yerssot
but he is still THE bond and has made quite a career; so what's the problem? he doesn't have a stupid piece of paper?

and joking about those tattoos is rediculour. Scots are generally very fond of their freedom (look at the history, anyone remember William Wallace?) and what's wrong with loving your mum and dad? they brought you to this place and took care of you for a long time

Kaleanae
I think some poeple find that annoying, anyway, he is a great actor

yerssot
he very much is

and what's annoying? it's not their body he placed it on messed

Kaleanae
I don't know, I found a weird site... wait
this one http://www.amiannoying.com/

yerssot
what a site namemessed

Kaleanae
sad

yerssot
you don't like the site or the name?

Kaleanae
both, I just took a quiz from there, it was funny but is says that I'm moderate annoying stick out tongue

yerssot
not to me though sad

Kaleanae
You took it? zorro
What did it say?

Mr Zero

I didn't took it and I'm sure I'm too annoying to be even on that thing wink

Evy_O
twas a silly test erm

what do you mean? confused

yerssot
a failed quote I think

Mr Zero
Sorry about the earlier attempt.

What I was trying to say is "even" doesn't come into it - Bond isn't English - he's a Scot.

yerssot
actually... in the books bond was english but when Sean played him Ian Flemming changed Bond's background to being scottish

Mr Zero
Ahem! Where in the books does it mention him being English?

It wasn't mentioned at ALL till after '62 & Sean won Flemming over and he decided to give Bond Scottish roots - thats not changing anything, its not as if he contradicted anything from an earlier story. Bond is the quintessential Scottish spy - and thats that.

yerssot
just on a bond sites that's specialised in books
