Shes not meant to look like herself. In the film, she's meant to look like catwomsn.

You dont complain that the chewbacca actor in star wars doesn't look like himself when he is in costume.

That costume is just awful, and looks like a promo for a soft porn site or something.

The slashes in the trousers don't look very appealing let alone practical as they look liable to rip further when she moves, can you image when she fights? She's falling outta that top, and it yields her no protection at all from attackers. Those are the fakest white claws on those gloves and I don't like the way they change material past her elbows - and open toe stillettos!?!? Who the hell runs, jumps and fights in open toe stillettos?

They've really bypassed quality on this flick for the sake of sex symbol image and that's annoying because Catwoman has been iconacised in such a way that you know she's deadly, crafty, makes you nervous with anticipation if not respected and sexy but Halle, in that picture at least and in another promo pic I've seen just looks like a 'bedroom plaything' which doesn't do her or the character justice. I mean, we have so much expectation and high hope after the amazing performance by Michelle Pheiffer who was bad, good, clever, cunning, vulnerable and twisted all at the same time - she was the perfect cat, even her facial expressions and the way she moved - priceless. PLus even though her costume was pvc it looked so much more protective and practical then the one above and she had a tail as well right? It's not vital of course but it was a nice extra touch.

Anyways, I really hope Halle can live upto that because I really don't want to see the Catwoman character degraded into another empty female action figure whose only looked at for her body - in the same way they ruined Charlie's Angels and ugh the whole Bond Girl thing. Catwoman is meant to be lethal and dangerous and you're meant to know it, this new image has been cheapened but I hope that I'm proved wrong when I see it.

That's abit ridiculous - I mean, Catwoman has a whole history and like you said when you mentioned her name - we have some knowledge of who she is, it'd be better to continue the mystery by starting with somethign we know and let her narrate the story of her life or something rather then start completely new. It might work though, we wont know until we see it I guess but still . I guess they're just trying to get away from the precedent Pheiffer set and concentrate wholly on Halle and maybe give her a darker past or something (it wont matter to new fans anyway and maybe that's what they're thinking about but it will matter to those established fans who like some kind of accurate reflection)... not that I think it's about the different actresses that play Catwoman, it's bout Catwoman period not about changing it to suit the actress and give her more publicity for herself rather then the character. If she played the character well then she'd have added to the whole Batman collective franchise making up for the catastrophe that was number 4 and it would pave the way nicely for number 5 later on - and plus, playing the character right will give you the credit, not a movie centred on you and how sexy you are rather then the character - you might as well play yourself then.

And the "she isnt suppose to look like herself because she's wearing a costume" is stupid. We always recognize the actor under the mask (aside from spider ) and her mask is minimal!

I hope I'm gonna be pleasantly surprised by this movie but I doubt it. Michelle Pfeiffer didn't need to show her nips to be one of the sexiest characters ever to grace the screen. Pfeiffer played her as a total loony which is what Catwoman is. Halle Berry will just pout for the camera and I think the movie will be aimed at the 14 year old boy market.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks this movie looks like a steaming pile, and that costume is a travesty!

I'll tell you what theyre doing. The reason for all this crap isn't so they can distinguish themselves from Michelle Pfieffer or give Catwoman a new look. Its gonna be a "black" movie. Some black dude is making the film and he's going to do an "urban" version, just you wait.

Now, before any of you cry rascist, I'm not. Black comedys like Friday and I'm Get You Sucka are some of my favorite movies, and those old blaxploitation films are classics. You just don't take a venerable, beloved character like Catwoman and make her black just because you are. I love Samuel L Jackson, but he wouldn't be a good Batman.

The dude shouldve done The Falcon or Luke Cage or something if he wanted to do a black superhero movie so bad.

Lastly, Halle Berry is overrated, and she's a horrible Storm. Angela Basset wouldve been the perfect Storm, and I will never forgive Brian Singer for that casting mistake.

I agree with most if not all of you......costume SUCKS! The Idea of this movie SUCKS!! As a DC/Batman fan I hate this idea...if Michelle didn't want to do it then they should have found a look alike or cast another actress, and Keep it with Selena and her story!!!

Kill Bill didnt have a sequal its all one film split in two parts. And you can hardly compare it with the Last samurai.

Don't know why but I am not excited about this movie. Maybe its because the previews are not that great. I like Halle Berry but I don't know about this movie. The latest review I read on it (www.local6.com) has a good balance (meaning no spoilers). Check it out if you get a chance.

Ok, I love batman. He was my favorite superhero. I loved the cartoons and the comics, and maybe the first three movies. And my favorite character from batman was catwomen. So when I first heard there was going to be a catwomen movie I got all excited, but then I saw the outfit, and it went down hill from there. So now I am not sure I am going to like this movie at all, but i am going because I am a big catwomen fan. And I hope they don't screw up. I guess I will see soon enough.

If you are expecting a Catwoman that bears any relation to the one from Batman, you will be sorely, hugely, and monumentally dissapointed.

That's not true. "Hulk" didn't do as well as expected, neither did "Daredevil", "Punisher", or the last couple of "Batman" movies.

The only other truely successful superhero franchise, aside from "Spiderman", is "Blade".

I have seen the new Catwoman movie... I was skeptical going in as there are severe discrepancies in the casting. Catwomans suit is all wrong and looks like crap, Halle Barry (sic?) can't act for crap, and Catwoman is supposed to be a white chick.. Depite all of this, I went to see it anyway at a sneak-peek... If it wasn't for the fact that I was with a really sexy date that night I would have got up and left. They went so far away from the comic book that there is no way to redeem it, the acting was horrible, the casting sucked, and the coreography was simply... well.. pathetic is a NICE way to put it. I strongly urge everyone to not waste their money, I sure won't be renting it.

Ever since Halle Berry uttered that dumbass quip in X-Men... "You know what happens to a toad when it gets hit by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else", I decided that should never be cast in a comic-based film again. Ever. After seeing the god-awful costume they came up with, and the recent trailers, I stand firm on my intial thoughts. Not even a rental for me when it comes out on video. I'd rather watch Hulk again.

The comics from the start portray Catwoman as a white girl instead of a black girl. What were the motives for the change in skin color? I am all for liberation and change, but only if it is appropriate. But this really doesn't make much sense, now does it?

These comic book characters are what they are, and that shouldn't be changed. I would never accept it if Superman suddenly turned black or Spider-Man suddenly turned black. That is how they were made and who they are. It just doesn't do the original idea justice.

even without the whole skin issue, the movie really doesn't look that good.

it looks somewhat like Daredevil, where we see a CGI Halle Berry jumping around from building to building. The only thing that looks cool is her whip. There aren't many whips in modern movies. There use to be whips all the time in the 80's and 70's, but there has been a strike or something. Whip-age has decreased for some reason.

Same situation as Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt in the television show.

Not that anyone cares, this movie is going to bomb no matter who Catwoman is played by, which there is still only in my heart, being Michelle Pfeiffer.

Any movie whos trailer includes a tagline first made popular in the movie "Clueless", "Oops, my bad", to give the character credibility as a hardcore superhero, I guarantee you will fail.

I just spoke with my gf : shes a big catwoman fan and hates the look of this film - but shes going to go see catwoman with a freebie ticket i got in the batman animated series DVDs.

She's trying to start a grass roots campaign for people to leave a little piece of cat-poop in theaters after the movie as a complaint.

The "Blade" character is a superhero, his franchise is a comic book/super hero franchise. They are synonymous.

I thought it was common knowledge when we talk about a "comic book movie", were referring to the likes of Superman, Spiderman, or Batman. Not ****ing Archie, Jughead, and Betty.

What do I think? Well, let me make it brief:

The only way I would enjoy this film is if The Bride (Kill Bill) shows up in the end and slices Hale Berry (Crapwoman) in pieces with her Hattori Hanzo sword. If that happens I would call this a masterpiece! If not is total crap.

I dont think the vampires in Underworld are superheros even though they fight werewolves.They may not have a comic but its that same thing

Its not about being a comic book movie its about you calling Blade a superhero when he hes a vampire just like the people in UNderworld but you dont see many people calling them heros

"Blade" is nothing like the "Death Dealers" in "Underworld". He, being rooted in a comic, where any character with super human powers, or fancy gadgets, a secret identity, and a singular arch-nemesis, is considered a "super hero", by definition. "X Men" is in the smae boat, as is "Hellboy". They are a dark faction of super hero lore.

Trust me, when people say "Comic Movie" or "Super Hero Movie", "Blade" falls in that category more times than not.

Hey, guys! I had a chance to see Catwoman yesterday. I won't lie and say it's the best movie of the summer, but it's entertaining. The cityscape and the sets looked cool. I'm a fan of Pitof's work in Jeunet's films so I was expecting it look at least decent and fortunately, the camera work and the sets were pretty good. The action sequences were definitely probably the best part of the film as the writing is somewhat lacking. Halle is still very cool and sexy though, even when she's shy and a doormat. I also liked the whole concept of having a strong female protagonist and a strong female villain. It's definitely nice to see some girl power out there! Anyway, it's worth checking out if you want some mindless summer fluff to get away from the heat.

I actually think the next batman will be the best since the original.Ive been dying for them to do something with the Scarecrow character,and since there only doing one villian it will be lest fast pase like the previous,and ive never really gotten to know alot about batman and his origins over the past 5 movies all these crummy flashbacks didnt help a thing so im hoping theyll focus more on his story and how he became batman in this movie.

I already had plans to, after seeing a "Catwoman" special, where they showed Michelle Pfeiffer segments, which reminded me how much I liked the movie. But yeah, I want to weigh in on it, seeing as how I haven't seen it in years.

Ok....I didnt like the movie tho mostly because it didnt have enough good action segments to keep it alive but hey I havent seen it in a while.

Well, without straying too far off "Catwoman", here, the first 2 "Batman" movies weren't about action. Tim Burton's not an action movie director. Batman's angle is 1/4th revenge, 1/4th mourning, 1/4th action, and 1/4th developing human emotion/socialities in the supporting cast.

Burton's directing is very "in touch" with the characters, i.e. "Big Fish", "Ed Wood", "Planet of the Apes". Of course, that doesn't always work out.

As for "Catwoman", they even changed her name in this one to something long Promise, or Hope, or some crap? "Catwoman" didn't even merit her own comic book until "Batman Returns" was out, in 1992.

A character like this can't helm a franchise, she's a background character with a paper thin storyline that's explainable in less than 2 minutes. Mousy chick who was dropped out of a building, was rejuvinated with the soul of a cat, and became "Catwoman". Trying to stretch that over 100 minutes of celluloid is a lost cause.

I suspect Elektra will play out like this film whatever it may be like

Ugh...well, that might be because most comic book readers and people who watch superhero shows are male. To me, it seems as if there are a lot of women who are interested in seeing Catwoman because they do want to see a strong powerful woman who's just as capable of fighting as any male superhero. Recently, there seems to be more of a market for this sort of thing (i.e. Kill Bill, Charlie's Angels) whereas I think the interest in having female "superheroes" (i'm using this term loosely) was a lot less. In any case, I hope Catwoman helps increase this interest and more movies with kick butt women get made!

And I do think Catwoman will do well enough this weekend so they'll be able to do Catwoman 2, if Halle is interested (her character's name is Patience, btw). The screening I went to was completely full and they had to turn people away. It seems that there is enough curiosity about the film to draw a good audience.

Indeed, I would. I saw "Cheaper by the Dozen", and "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" for free, thanks to AmStar Cinemas "Rewards" Club. I passed on "Miracle", I'm not a feel good, Disney sports movie, of hockey fan.

Oh, wasn't Miracle supposed to be good though? I don't really know. I still think Catwoman will draw a good crowd, especially because Halle is an actress that appeals to a lot of different people: young men, older men, young girls, and she's appealing to a lot of different races. She's the only African American actress that has such star power so I think it's really nice to finally see her in a big starring role. And a lot of screenings don't do too well so I think if you get a screening where people are getting turned away, then it foreshadows a pretty good box office. For example, I won tickets to A Cinderella Story through MTV and took my little sister and almost all the seats were totally empty. And from the movie screening thread at Fatwallet, I know that a lot of screenings turn up half empty so I don't think people always turn up even if it's free.
