SnakeEyes
Who is the most depressed hero? as in which one has had the worst occurences in their life and worst events and which hero acts the saddest.
I was just curious
Mane
id say Banner. everyone else seems to have embraced their calling and/or powers. but deep inside he still has a hatred towards his Hulk side.
ScarletSpider
Not to mention his wife died of Gamma Radiation poisoning. That's adding insult to injury.
Punkyhermy
Batman.
I haven't seen anyone as sullen and wanting to jump off a cliff as he is.
Victor Von Doom
I bet you'd vote him on most happy as well...
Punkyhermy
Well, bad move on your part there.Your sure to loose all ur money here!
Maestro
Didn't abomination poison betty?

Nataku8188
I'm gonna go with other, has anyone here read a Deadpool comic? The guy is constantly on his own case about his horrible looks, and uses his banter as a way to keep people from getting close to him. He gets drunk, and pretty much whenever he isnt ****ing around he's realizing just how horrible he is inside.
I'd say Banner is more tormented then depressed.
ScarletSpider
Betty was poisoned by her continual Gamma exposure from the Hulk. Abomination delivered the final blow by giving her a blood transfusion with his gamma irradiated blood, which finished her off.
Ironman
batman because he has no mama or dada they dead.
Ironman 66
id say spawn or hulk
Nataku8188
I hate both of you ironmen. With the passion of a 60 year old at a slot machine.
SnakeEyes
OOOOOOOOOOOOOH
thats harsh!
but they are kinda dumb......
jayson
on a different note, i'd say the whole of the x-men past present and probably future. these ****ers are always moaning about some shit.
jayson
oh yeah and spidey. how many times has he quit so far?
§nakehead
Punisher because his entire family was murdered
Nataku8188
That doesn't make him depressed!
Dictionary.com defines depression as;
A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death. Also called clinical depression.
He is depressed because he couldn't stop them from being murdered, even so, there are worse cases then him. Frank castle isn't depressed to the point where he stops functioning, he just keeps going. You are a punisher Fanboy, so just stop posting, because everything you say is pointless drivel.
§nakehead
Dude punisher is a heavy boozer he thinks about suicide almost everyday that pretty depressed
Mane
unless Nataku is a heavy boozer and thinks about suicide almost every day...
Viper
Batman. I mean, still whining about his parents murder after all those years. You'd think he'd get some counseling or something by now.
Lenord
Most of those characters have had thier periods of depression, but mostly now they have dealt with thier depression (to varing degress).
Even Banner has finally accepted Hulk and now has a better relationship with him and is learning to cope with it.
Batman went through some great periods of depression, most notable of which were when he lost partners (Robbin's death, Bathgirl getting paralized) and when he broke his back, but I somehow doubt that he is still depressed with his parents death (it is very rearly mentioned anymore).
Spawn used to be depressed when he first came out of hell and realised that he had been cheated (wife married to best friend, finally has kid she always wanted but he couldn't give her). Now however he has found his calling and accepted his identity as Spawn (has said farewell to his life as Al Simmons).
I don't remeber Daredevil being a depressed guy so I don't know why he is on the list.
Punkyhermy
Batman's parents' death is mentioned in EVERY comic I have read so far. If not that than at least we get a shot of Batman reminiscising about his parents.Stuff like my father took me with him to this place and all...
SUPERMANDAMAN
Rogue just because she aint getting none.
DarkCrawler
Like said in The Villains of Marvel Comics:
Banner.
At least he would have the reason ro be most depressed.
mordamor22
WHAT ABOUT SPIDERMAN?
Darth Jello
read king of hell's kitchen, apparently karen page's death sent DD on a two year (in comics) nervous breakdown
RaventheOnly
Ignoring my own fav... even though not being able to feel because you'd kill everyone is pretty bad and your dad is your worst enemy and would like nothing more then slaughter everything you care for.
I would say Banner or the Punisher.
Wolverine is pretty depressed to but his new family being the x-men kinda comforts him.
Spawn because he lost all he loved but found that his family is in good hands and he can do something to protect them indirectly.
Batman is depresed but he deals with it by doing what he does best to prevent others from suffering what he did.
Ghost Rider is suppose to have a sad story behind him but i am unawre ... because i never really read much about him same as daredevil which is pretty much if i remember like batman but to top that off blind. Hellboy holds the key to destroying the earth and has to deal with the fact if he ever lost control he would kill everything he hold dear.
Darth Jello
DD post karen up to the end of Kof HK reminds me of black costume spider-man. not counting punisher (who isn't a hero anyway), I have never seen this degree of violence from one of the "marvel knights" (MK's are spider-man, DD, black panther, black widow, cloak and dagger, jessica jones, luke cage, and iron fist).
Into the Void
Wolverine is a Marvel Knight now too.
spyrokinesi35
my vote's the prffeser x. he pretty much has it the worst. his sister's a psychopathic killer, his son went crazy and died, his borther continuously tires to kill him, and hes bald, old and crippled. magneto's constanly trying to take over the world and he lost the love o his life. but with his postive attude he changed everything, he got remarried to and alein, juggernaut and cassandra nova are student's, he hasn't grow his hair back though and he has the use of his legs again for a short time and he's somewhat getting used to magneto. I would actually say wolverine, but he's a whole different story.aslo I don't know who spwan is but is he good or bad?
SnakeEyes
Spawn is a good guy, but a dark hero. He would be depressed becasue he was double-crossed, killed, and sent to Hell, then backto Earth. Not to mention all the other bad stuff that has happened to him.
spyrokinesi35
holy smokes! I thought he wuz a bad guy, but from what you already said his life stinks here's my list in order
1. hulk. he's been brainwashed incapacitated, double crossed abondend shuneed and abused.
2. wolverine-even as a child he's been beaten forgoten about and has seen so many deaths and has had to fight for his life, and as wolverine he's always on guard in fear tha sabretooth is going to jump him, and also he's been brain washed abducted ticked and used, and has had his heart broken by jean grey
but in the end I would say the hulk the proffesser or wolverine have taken the most in.
Alpha Centauri
"Batman. I mean, still whining about his parents murder after all those years. You'd think he'd get some counseling or something by now."
Exactly. It's not exactly like he can't afford it.
I think Daredevil can be a pretty down-in-the-dumps kind of guy when things don't go his way.
-AC
SnakeEyes
true...but i still say the Hulk, if anyone can make me reconsider then i am here to listen!
Nataku8188
I still say deadpool... or the Hulk.
Lenord
Just because you have a dark and horrible past doesnt nessarily mean you get depressed. There are those who get depressed over lesser things and those who can take a lot of pain and suffering without getting depressed. Take for example Wolverine, I have very rearly seen him depressed, he just gets angry and cuts up a couple of people. That is how he deals with his pain. Sure he still does not know about his past or if the stuff he knows is even true, but that just makes him more determined and reselute. He doesn't go into a period of gloom and doom every time he ends up in a dead end, he just has learnt to accept it and move on to the next lead. You rearly see Wolverine in a state of depression and selfpity (I have never seen him like that, but since I have not read all his comics I can't be 100% sure).
Just because you think thier life story is depressing does not mean that the person is depressed. There are characters like Spawn who was really on the down when he first came out of hell and realised all that had happened while he was dead. Now this guy was depressed... he lived with the homeless in the worst part of the city, he was on a road of selfpity and depression. He used to sped his time sping on his former wife and best friend (who were now married) and thier daughter and filling sorry for himself. During those times he spent most of his time on his throne (made out of rubbish and the remains of the people/monsters he had killed) and brood all the time... Now that is a guy who is depressed. Now however he has gotten over most of that and has found his calling...
All in all Spawn is the most depressed Hero I have seen in a comic book (beats Banner hands down, who comes in second).
Nataku8188
Sigh, give me a minute to scan some dp pages.
TheFilmProphet
I Disagree.

SUPERMANDAMAN
Like i said Rogue would be the most depressed she isnt getting any.
TheFilmProphet
She can't even get a handshake

Paola
she can..... with gloves on, but still she can
TheFilmProphet
Not a real handshake

It defies the purpose with gloves on otherwise why not call it a gloveshake.
Paola
I guess it losts its meaning right there

TheFilmProphet
I think what is even more depressing is the fact that she put her boyfriend into a coma with her first kiss.
Joker1237
I sure she can get some, the guy has to be a rubber suit or something like that, much like the naked gun which one was it? 1 or 2 or 1 and a half??I got the joke.
Mr Parker
Hey you forgot spider-man who for sure is always depreesed about something. How could you forget spidey?
Mr Parker
anyways,my vote would have been spidey if he had been up there and wolverine wasnt, but after I noticed wolverine in the poll, even if spidey was listed,I would stay with my vote of Wolverine because he is the most tragic in my opinion because of what physically happened to him.
Paola
about Rogue: I wouldn't mind putting a guy into a coma......not if I can fly and have super-strength

TheFilmProphet
If I was Gambit I would mind though lol.
Wynndar
hmmmmm i would have to go with the hulk on this one....ben grimm (the thing) has had his moments too
TheFilmProphet
Everyone here has pretty much forgot about him.
Lenord
Look no one there can compare to Spawn... I mean first you get killed by your boss, then you end up in Hell and make a deal with the devil and loose your soal for a second chance at life. When you get back to earth you realise that the devil has tricked you and a couple of years has passed since you died (not to mention that your face is all ****ed up because you were burnt alive)... Finally you go to see your wife and find out that your best friend is now married to your wife and they have a kid together... As if this was not bad enough you have Angels tring to kill you and you have the devil tring to groom you to be one of his lutenants in his army, to storm Heavens door. And then you have the fat, short, filthy clown who is pissed off with you because you were chosen to be a hellspawn instead of him and is there to make your life miserable.
It is no surprise that the guy ends up living in the alley with the homeless where he sits on his thrown made of the bones and rotting flesh of the demons and humans he has killed. This is the same guy who nailed one of his enemies (who is human) to the wall next to his thrown, by his hands and left him there for days until he managed to rip off his arm and escape while Spawn was not there. Spawn wins hads down....
Wynndar
yea spawn has it really bad...but the thing is he doesnt really act depressed...jus kinda angry and mean about it....but bruce banner and ben grimm both act very depressed...banner moreso in the old school savage hulk stories...and ben grimm has a episode of depression every other issue...spawn did have a lot of f*cked up stuff happen but he doesnt seem to depressed to me
TheFilmProphet
True. Ben Grimm always has his overcoat on and talking about how depressed and ugly he is.
Lenord
If spending your free time sitting on your thrown of flesh and bone and brooding in a dark alley is not being depressed I don't know what is... If it was not for the events that keep intruding on him he would spend all his time in that alley sitting on his thrown. The guy turned away everyone that tried to help him and the only time he got out of his depression was when someone tried to kill him (or his ex-wife/her child) and he got really pissed off, or when he wanted to get revenge for his murder. At his lowest point he used to cover himself in worms, which he cultivated (using the dead carcass of his enemies as food) to absorbe evil essence. Ben might get depressed from time to time, but at leaste the guy had a girl who loved him (and still might.. I could see them getting together again), and he has friends and family that help him out during his bad times. As for Banner he also had a girl who loved him, and even though he had a lot of bad times, he still had good periods between them.
The main difference between them and Spawn is that they always have a ray of hope, which comes from having close friends and loved ones. Al Simmons lost it all and he knows that for him, life is over and in the end all he will ever be is a Hellspawn, and one day when he dies or uses up all his energy he will end up back in hell to take part in a meaningless battle for Heaven.....
SUPERMANDAMAN
good points and what happened to the x man vs jla thread?
