I know it's not a legitimate test without a controlled environment and that you cant compare results without that and a time limit.

I'm also wise enough to know that anyone claiming they could get 180 in any IQ test - odds of around 1 in 3 million - is probably a liar.

from all the tests ive done im around 140, and tbh im happy with that...dont claim to be a genius, im just good with mind games and logic etc... im not particularly good in college either for the record

I took an Iq test on the internet a while back and I wanted to see what would happen if you completely bombed it and I got a 21 and it said You are mentaly retarded you should not even be able to read this.

I was reading a science magazine a few years ago, ( FOCUS ), and there was a challenge published in it that was compiled by MENSA. I tried it and was shocked to find that I did quite well.

As I was unsure of the validity of this test I enquired with MENSA who confirmed that they HAD compiled the home IQ test and that if I completed it in the time allowed and achieved a certain level they would offer a full test at my nearest university.

Well...( to cut a long story short - as they say ), I did one of the tests and sent it in. Each of these tests only gave a result as a colour level, with the lowest being Bronze, going up through Silver, Gold and Platinum at the top.

I received a Platinum award for the 1996 test !

I was pleased of course but I let it lie thinking it was a bit too easy.

I was curious when I saw the same test come up again in 1997 so I did it again and sent it in.

I AGAIN received a PLATINUM award ?????? with an invitation to go to my nearby university for the fully controlled test.

I did and I received an Intelligence Quotient score of 148.

As I left school without even a leaving certificate and a sureness that I was a thick as two short planks this was a massive shock to me to find that I was in the top percentage of the population of Britain with that score.

The Moral of the tale....Don't believe what they say at school about your intelligence. Make up your own mind after getting a second opinion !

I think the thing to bear in mind here is that we owe it to ourselves not to get too bogged down in the details about whether its a valid test or not.
