Welcome to the Academy of the New X-Men

I don't have any idea about the story of this New X-Men.
Since I've learned that there's no thread about it yet. So, anybody can talk about it here.

It is a good idea too if somebody could post the Team's bio and Members along with their pics.

I was looking for some pics last night and I found a few of them.... but still have no idea of who they are
like there isn't enough X-Men to be confused about!!!

I didn't know them too. Generation X was enough already ... Now they have this New X-Men freaks. It wouldn't be a surprise anymore if someday new freaks on the block come their way and dubbed as Newest X-Men Ever!!!

it's confusing cause new x-men was the series with emma, scott, jean, etc. in which they battled cassandra nova.
now it's called academy x. a few of the characters (i don't know anything about them, though) are surge, elixir, wind dancer, dust and wallflower.

i have the 2nd and 3rd issue of x-men academy. they are just mutant kids who came to the school to control their powers like the x-men. and their is one mutant who can decay any organic material its a cool series.

Oh, and Wind Dancer's power is wind related. Creates and controls wind, hence the name. LOL

Okay guys. I have some info on these guys. It is all I could find cos there don't seem to be any full bios out there so I will just tell you all their powers.

I shall start with Prodigy...

Wind Dancer (Sofia Mantega):

I bought the first Issue of Academy X today so I will be sure to get more info on them now. I think I'm gonna really like this one. LOL

what does
"omega class healing ability" mean???

The new x-men suck,the powers the characters are really crap.The writers are really scraping the bottom of the mutant barrel for those totally lame characters,it just shows how all the best power ideas where used up years ago-so now they either have basically the same powers as existing characters or the powers are just unbelievibly sh*t!!!

It means he can heal anything aside from death. Is one of the most powerful healers.


And I don't agree with you, Lisa-J. Yes, all the good powers were used up ages ago but this storyline has much potential, as do the new mutants represented in it. To come up with new powers is near impossible! The X-Men have been around for years and the writers have come up with all the powers imaginable.

I love New X-Men: Academy X, and I haven't even finished reading the first issue. So, I am not going to agree the powers and characters are not worth the paper they are printed on. LOL.

I have read more than one issue and I wont be reading anymore,when I say the characters are crap it's because I don't think they have the excitement of existing ones.

i like the new x-men i think it seems creative with the team rivlaries and stuff.

I love the kids but i do say they didn't do what they did in the original new mutants. Characters like Cannonball and Sunspot, Empath and Syrin. I'm for draw the character with a power showing then make up what kid of power it is. And i have to see more energy powers to live, so they better start with that.
I like Hellion. He was cute in the first issues now his face is all disfigured. Cannonball used to be ugly now they made him attractive.

I like the series. the whole rival squad thing is cool

Scott's team is probably the original X-Men team, including Emma, i dunno... They are the teachers of these kids, arent' they?

wait i think i am confused. the new x-men are a bunch of new kids who want to learn how to control their powers and xavier is away.So cyclops makes 3 teams.

I've got a little request. Can you give me some more scans of Academy X, like from comics? Cause in my country, there are NO x-men comics. (U can think, that strange country, isn't it?) Not really...there is only New X-men, and Ultimate X-men. And I also can't download it...please, put here more scans!

the art work on jury pics looks diff from the comics.

Ya Cannonball was a hick in the begging of New Mutants untill Rob Liefield came along and streamlined him into a babe alert. For a while they would switch back and forth form cute to ug. Then when he joined the x-men they did the same thing between adult look and teen. Now so far they've stuck with the cute older teen look that works best for him.
I wanna see who that black haired kid is on Cyclops team and what kind of power he has. I'd love to see a kid with just plain superstrength and invulnerability and flight. Those kind of powers made Rogue so cool.
Wither is real popular at the school. Isn't populairity tough.
So who do you guys think the most powerfull one of the mutants there is?
I think it might be Sooraya, i think she can turn from dust and sand up to human.

Although, Josh could survive and heal nearly any attack...

Actually, I'm surprised Cyclops, Beast or Iceman didn't name their squad of New Mutants after Phoenix, after all, she's one of their oldest teammates, or was. If he wasn't going to name them after jean, he could have at least given them a nicer name like Starjammers.

I have never heard Magma as being a lesbian. Karma, yes, and Kitty as questionable, but I've never heard Magma. Anyway, she's a cool character either way.

I'm really looking forward to the conclusion to this arc. I've heard there were a few surprises.

this series is ok. it seems its getting interesting by every issue.

My guess is Jay will join the New Mutants...

I'm going to be really disappointed if Jay joins the New Mutants. If NM is losing Sofia and Kevin, I wonder who will be the other replacement. My hopes are for Mercury but most likely I'm guessing either Sofia will go back to the NM or Dust joins.

And I think the ghost is either:
a) Jay's deceased ex-Girlfriend (supposed to be getting Jay-centric soon)
b) Sofia's deceased mother (since she seems to be in the center of the covers; though covers are often innacurate)

You know what I like about this comic?

The characters are UNIQUE. They have different powers, not the general, mundane "I CAN SHOOT ENERGY BEAMS!" attacks. Although some of them seem a little lame, I really think that Wind Dancer, Wallflower, Elixir, Icarus (I like the red wings more than Angel's), Wolfsbane (yes, I am aware that this isn't her first appearance in X-Men), Mercury, and Dust are all really cool.

I don't really like Hellion, as telekinesis is a little lame without telepathy, and I don't think some of the others are spectacular, but still...I could never have thought of Wind Dancer's powers.

So, since your such a big fan...
What do you think about Jay and Kevin switching teams?

Well, since I don't actually READ the series, I wouldn't know, lol. I'm just saying I like the powers and creativity involved with making the characters. Unfortunately, Granite is a complete Thing knockoff, although I strongly dislike the FF, so he > Thing.

I am really enjoying this book, although here in Australia I am only up to Issue 5. I would imagine there have been alot more after that. My fav character is of course the guy who can't touch anything, Kevin. He's just so dark and handsome. *DROOLS* Oh, sorry, where was I? Sophia is great too.

I love the way this comic explains it as it goes cos for a new comic X-Men fan like me, it's great!

P.S. No offence to the artist in Issue 5, but he was no where near as good as the artist in the first four. Geesh! I really hate it when that happens. The characters looked soooooooo bad!

Refreshing up old official threads.

Okay someone needs to explain something to me. New X-Men 27, Since when is it only Emma's Skin that turns to diamond. She's been shattered before and there was no blood then? And how the heck can she be cut by a Vibranium Knife. She has perfectly smooth diamond skin, meaning no pressure points, except for that one flaw on her forehead. How can a knife cut her?
Secondly since when is she useless against a human pinning her down, I thought she gains a strength boost in that form? And finally she can mind-jack TP blockers in Deadly Genesis but when it comes to New X-Men she's absolutely useless?? I liked the issue but this just spoilt it for me.
