This is to appreciate what a great character Oracle is. She is my favorite Batgirl too! Possibly the most powerful woman in the Batman comics...very smart and charming!

so.... why did she stop being Batgirl and started being Oracle?

joker shot her and she was paralyzed....so she went from batgirl to oracle

I think, though, that she had actually retired from being Batgirl before she got shot. Could be mistaken.
