Has anything that we have invented really made our lives that much easier or better?

We have cars that can get us places in hours that would have taken days only 100 years ago. But maintenance or these contraptions, plus cost to be able to operate these contraptions is just outragous.

We have video games, movies, and television to entertain us. Is there anything wrong with being "outside?" Why go play road hockey with friends when you can play PlayStation?

There has been so much to make our lives that much easier, why are we always in a hurry to get things done?

We are lazier and more demanding then we have ever been. For the most part, we want things done for us. We have lost the self-reliance we have had. Self-cleaning, automatic...

- Cars. I think cars have made a postitve infulince on the human race. We can get where we need to go faster, and with less effort than on horseback. But it always has its downsides, cost and the exhaust from the car.

- Video games. I personaly am not a huge fan of video games. But the ability to create movies and stuff like that has more to do with informing rather than entertaining. Because with out the ability to produce videos, we would not have documentaries....with can sometimes be quite interesting. Or new broadcats so we can get information quicker than having to go down to the grocery store and by a paper.
There is absolutly nothing wrong with going outside and playing. If its a rainyday, or excesivly hot, then i can see staying in side and playing. I think videogames have alot to do with obese children these days, instead of going outside and playing, burning energy....and calories, children are staying inside, eating and playing videogames, the only thing they are exercising is their thumbs.

- Being in a hurry. Sometimes its good to be in a hurry, its the opposite of lazyness, which isnt good...not many people like lazy workers. But being in a rush can mean spending less time on a project and not making it run the best it can, taking shortcuts has its ups and downs.

- We are lazyier and more demanding. This may be true to a point, but look at all the great things man has accomplished. I dont think putting a man on the moon was exactly an act of lazyness.
Everyone wants things done for them. Just because we have more technology doesnt mean our uman nature has changed. I'm sure people in the 1700s wanted to just sit and relax and let a machine do their chores for them. But they couldn't so they didn't.

I can't complain Technology is making life easier for all of us. Unfortunally, all this technology is the production of Capitalist nations. In the end those that can afford it, will have a more confortable lifestyle. So, I think that technology shouldn't be restricted to those that can afford it. It should be for all of us. Not just those with wealth.

Damn Capitalist!

Cars are arguably the most useful invention EVER. What would take me a day or two to reach, I can now reach in an hour...less, even, if I go on the freeway.

But if you think about all the mental and physical effort that goes into these unnecessary machines... is it in the long run really making that much of a difference?

well, you have to look at in other points of view though. so lets exclude those who are born into money and take those who grew up poor and then went to collage, made a living and are now substantually wealthy. this is probably what they are thinking "why do these poor people who havent done a thing in their lives to get out of poverty get to have the same benifits of modern technology, as i, the hard working american who sweated and sacrificed to get where i am today?"

technology moves forward when there is demand. The UK was not the first nation to invent a steam engine, some theatre technician from ancient Alexandria did so too, but as there was an abundance of slave labour, this was never expanded.
