we havent seen this yet so i am assuming that this will be displayed to us in the ROTS. So are the expextations going to be met ?
Surely we couldnt have seen Anakin flying as yet in the SPOILERS section cause its still being perfectioned at the studios , but i really want to know how does Obi1 come up with such a phrase, when he always held Anakin back.

I think the begining of Episode 3 which is the space battle will show why Anakin was said to be the best star pilot in the galaxy.

Yeah, the chase in Episode II was another example, but I personally think that didn't show him as "the best", it was just good. I think most Jedi could do that...notice how Obi-Wan was very at ease with it? Lol.

Assman, maybe you should play a part in Strap-pilot, you seem to be acquainted with the name lol

i doubt it will be very long. but the battle sequence is split up.
first all ships fighting, then center on anakin and kenobi, then they invade the federation ship...eventually to confront dooku

It can't be too long, since there are so many other duels in the script, but including the Dooku duel I'd say like 10 minutes or so maybe.

i think more time than that, but it will certainly be quick

Well the movie is 2 hr 20 min...12 for the Anakin/Kenobi duel...say 5 for the Yoda/Sidious duel...3 for the Mace duel...maybe 4 for the Grievous duel...then theres the Grievous chase, the space battle, the exposition scenes, the fire fighting scene, the clone fights, Padme's death....idk how he's gonna fit it all in.

Who cares how long it is, if its done well thats all that matters

it also showed in the clone wars cartoon seris that he was a good pilot I just wonder how many ships going to take out in episode3.

I hope they make it believable though...not like the trade federation space battle in Ep 1

well we definately see how good he is in ANH. Of all the fighters Vader engaged, I think Luke was the only survivor

Is it just me, or does it seem like Han isn't so special with his piloting...Yeah, they say its hard to go through an asteroid field...but look at how well Obi-Wan did when he was being shot at with missiles and blaster fire and seismic charges, while having to dodge the blown off rock pieces in Episode II...and he HATES flying!

Now...although I don't read the books, ever, have never read a Star Wars book and most likely never will...I heard something about the Kessel Run being where you go as close to a black hole or something as you can without bailing out or getting sucked in...so it would make sense if Han made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, saying that the ship is fast enough to elude even the pull from a black hole, and that he's a skilled pilot enough to be able to fly out of that...but idk what the real canon says on the subject. All I know is that its a cool line lol

12 parsec,s was how far from the maw he was. very close to the event horizon of the black hole cluster. any closer and you will be sucked in and crushed. No Fate is correct it does denote a a measurable amount ofspeed to be able to break free from the gravitational pull of the Maw.

In retrospect I must retract my last reply because upon a closer boservation of the question I realized a mistake in my thinking.

To make the Kessel run one would normaly fly well outside the gravitational pull of the Maw which would increase the distance trveled greatly. Han skirted the edge of the maw so closely that he made the run in less distance than anyone before. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line........ This then does denote a measure of speed to be able break free from the Maw.

i am expecting a series of dogfights so long that should redeem kenobi's statement. Or at least a major dog fight; and who knows maybe the dooku vs. anakin duel will climax with a dogfight in outer space after they test eachother once again on the lightsaber.

There's avery technical SW site somewhere, with techno geeks who try to explain everything SW scietifically. I used to drive them nuts with the two parsecs approach.

Yup, that's one of those techno geeks. I've read all about the plasma sabres. They can even explain all the itty-bitty details about travel in hyperspace. It's hilarious.

Back to topic, I thought the actual space battle footage(before the duel) was to be 10-15 min. long, like ep4,6, and the battle of geonosis,in ep2.

I'm hoping to see anakin as the leader of the squad, saving obi's ass, getting the most kills, and having the other jedi pilots, including jedi masters call him "commander skywalker"

Would be kinda cool to echo the ot in that way.
