She had a huge hit with Self Control, originally written by an Italian named RAF, but he just scored a minor hit (with his own song). Lauras version, that actually came out simultaneously with RAF`s version, was a chart buster during the summer of 1984. She also had a hit in 1982 with a song called Gloria. Before that she was a backupsinger for Leonard Cohen
