hey i was just wonderinf did they guy in American Psycho kill anyone? i mean there were bodies and blood and then it was gone

Vegeta
Yes,he did. What do you mean 'gone'?
PissedOffGoalie
i mean in one scene there were bodies everywhere and in the next scene they weren't there
Vegeta
Oh.Well there's one scene where he kills a guy he works with, with a ax into the face.

The missing bodies that you refer to were Christian Bale's deterioration of reality around him. You ought to read the book that the movie's based on... it better captures the mindset of a white collar serial killer within its pages. Much more disturbing than the film, too.

all i have to say bout the book was the Rat chapter... if you read anything, find the rat chapter and read that...grusome
mook
yeah the film is infinitely sicker than the film
but the question remains - did he kill anyone or not?
Primitive Screwhead #1
Yes he does. However, the exact nature of his actions become more and more twisted/convoluted as he loses grip with reality. Kind of like Poe's Telltale Heart.
mook
so which ones does he kill...

I think that question is more open to opinion, as it's really hard to determine at what point illusion gets confused with reality.
I've read plenty of discussion on this, and several people have been of the opinion that in the movie, Patrick Bateman had been hallucinating everything from the beginning (given the medication he had been constantly taking). The book doesn't present it quite this way, which is why I stand by my opinion that some of the murders are real.
In the end however, Easton's main objective was to create a satire of the materialist/business boom atmosphere of the 1980's... meaning all of the murders are pretty much symbolic, be it real or illusion.
POG hit on something here with this thread. This really can generate some intelligent discussion.
mook
yeah thats probably right
-i thought some of them might have happened -like the tramp (i think, read it a while ago)

The book gave me the impression that the kills were real, but the film made me think that they were all a delusional fantasy. It confused me for a bit, but I would go for the book before the film, so, real it is.
