are you proud of it? ashamed? or simply dont care?

i used to not care until i acctually started listening in s&e (shock i know, how unexpected) and i realised how lucky we are over here in australia!

and ive traveled to quite a lot of countries and all, and yeah i have fun ... but when i come home i realise how different things are ... i dont mean stuff like shops or whatever, but thinks like air! the air over in australia is so much cleaner and clearer than in other countries!

i find myself getting a little clostraphobic (sp?) in other countries!

Maybe it is because I live in beautiful Scotland that I love living here, even with all of its serious flaws.

i went on camp last week, and while i was there me and my friend took a walk alond the beach droolio
yet i was discusted to find a glass bottle in the water, half covered with sand (i stepped on it (and no, there was no message cry)),
there were many things that i was discusted in, and that shouldnt be there

I knew I forgot to include something in that bottle


It's the constant fear of reaching in your fridge hoping to get a molson only to get a labatt in return cry

i dont know what a 'molson' or a 'labatt' is

and about that bottle, tut tut baby, thats the second time!

Instead of celebrating what is great about Australia all the time why don't you get a bit of passion in your soul and help to sort what is wrong if you know there is flaws.

It is the ones that care about the environment, ( as you obviously do ), that keep it clean and pure and beautiful while the users in Australia just make the mess and ruin the pristine air and environment.

Get angry m!$hA or your beautiful Australia could finish up like America and Britain.....( Yerss.....I don't know about Canada; you are going to have to tell us ).

The best beer in the world is Tennents Lager !

It is brewed in Glasgow and it is chemical and wersh, ( sharply bitter ) to taste, but once you are used to it no other lager can come close.

Anyway...when you are old enough take a trip to Estonia and just see how fast it is growing. You won't need to speak Esonian as they all speak English there. Just stick in at your English lessons as that is now the language of the internet and soon to be the language of the world.

Don't get me wrong Yerss... I am aware that Austria, Belgium and Germany have lots of great beers I just think that once you have aquired the taste for Tennents you will not get the same hit from any other beers....You will have been ruined for other flavours.

As they say in Scotland: "There are no bad whiskies; just some better than others ! "

This maxim applies to beers too where Tennents lager is up there at the very top and Labatte is probably down somewhere near the bottom with all of those German Austrian and Belgian beers somewhere in the middle.

Polish is beautiful language, just so complicated! I can understand most of what all Slavs say. That's cool.

I am from Cyprus... A country that only 2-3 people have heard of it...
I am NOT proud about my country... it's small and there are cypriots on only half of it the rest of it is turkish people because on 1974 there was a war and turkey took my mother's house... so we came in an other city... isn't that sad?

Ok, so im romanian. Its an eastern european country (NOT a 3d world country) close to Hungary. I dunno, i cant really say that im proud or ashamed. As all countries in the world, it has a good and a bad side. It just depends on your view. Since i live here, i say life is pretty good, for now.

I don't like it. Everybody in the world don't like Polish people, and they have a bit right...:/

I love my country as a body of land. I think it is a very beautiful place. But I hate the government, I hate all the corporatism, I hate all the fake images the media creates for people to copy... Though I suppose that's true in quite a lot of places.

In fact I will tell you that there are many Polish people who live in my beloved Scotland and every one of them that I know are terrific people who are well accepted and liked in Scotland.

These folks came over here during an after the 2nd world war and now they have third generatiion families here.

My best friend when I was serving my time as a Joiner was a guy called Vincent Kolos.......( I won't finish his name ). He was a great guy who was well know and liked in his hometown, ( Scottish-born of course ).

And yes..I agree with Finty...The Polish girls are all terrific too ! ahem !

I agree that it is sad that your little country is split in two between the Turks and the Greeks but maybe you should see it as the tourists see it !

I have been to Cyprus twice and I love it there. Maybe it is something to do with the great sea-food and the guaranteed sunshine...I don't know, but I have found that the Greeks and the Turks are all nice to the tourists. Why they can't be nice to each-other I don''t know either ?

Well, when I went to Sharvas, to international camp in Hungary, Hungarian peole shouted on lunch time something like: "Polish, vodka, sausage"... it wasn't nice. And director of camp didn't like Polish also... mayby not everybody didn't like us, but threre were mamy people, who didn't like us...

I have dual citizenship in America and in South Africa. I've spent less than two years living in South Africa and over 18 years in the United States. If you were to make me choose between one or the other i would not hessitate to keep my South African title. I don't support the kinds of things the US government does overseas and there are many things I don't support dommestically. I think Bush stole the last election and will probably try to steal the next one. I think that as the conservative agenda is moved forwards America is becoming less free, more evil, and less democratic. I don't have alot of American pride, and I really don't view South Africa as the best nation ever either but I would rather be associated with the racial violence and oppression of the Appartheid of a couple decades ago than to be associating myself with the Right Wing war on brown people world wide that is going on today. By claiming pride in a nation you must face criticism of that nation as criticism upon yourself. I have no desire to defend the actions of the US government or to support them with my tax dollars.

I was born and raised in England but my family's originally scottish, irish and welsh. I'm proud of my country for all it's achievements, but at the same time theres a lot i'd like to change about it.

My country, I'm a little ashamed of my country. It is full of corrupt politicians. I hate the fact that the government let the country to change the currency to dollars, this is bad because things like food and clothes went up in value (e.g a pair of jean costs 30 bucks, but the average person in my country only earns +- 50 dollars a week.) I don't like the fact that is one of the smallest country in this continent and has a population of 6 million
I don't like the fact that my country is sending troops to Iraq and I don't like the fact that the government, instead of helping people to progress in their own country -with education and better jobs- is forcing them (us) to leave and emigrate in order to 'survive'
Now your wondering which country is that, well, is El Salvador and I have to say that aside all those imperfections, I love it

Scotland has a lot more going for it than you suggest !

In general the people are warm and welcoming and if you are prepared to talk to them they will talk to you. I am sure that every country has its flaws and it's failures but Scotland has more to make up for it's flaws than it has flaws.

Every country has its ups and downs.. i would just like to be some place where everyone is passionate about their culture and there are values and morals and all that stuff.. NZ just gets a bit too boring sometimes, its all about money money money.. its not the be all and end all.. there are other things in life!

well Brazil is quite good (actually i love it)...and yeah yeah, i know there are many problems here, but well, at least we get to deal with them in a good way. "The best thing about Brazil is its people", this sentence is very right, brazilian people are awesome even with all the trouble we have and problems, every country has in some levels...
