K so personally I think batman is da man.
How would he fare against Judge Dredd ( stop laughing in the corner there...i did not mean the movie one but the cool comic one).
The dude usually shows no mercy and has a reckless attitude.
So who would bust who up???? evil face

Gregory
They have already met numerous times: Judgement On Gotham, Vendetta In Gotham, Ultimate Riddle, and Die Laughing. The only out and out fight they had (in Vendetta, I think), they were almost perfectly matched, but Dredd won.

And we have a versus subforum in the general area.

carnage24
Thanks Gregory...If possible can my post be moved?
Anyway....I have not read any Batman vs Dredd comics but man.....dredd won???
Please do give a summary of how this was done when you have time.

Gregory
A summary? I can do better than that. Batman vs. Dredd, blow for blow:

Dredd opens hostilities when he fires on the Batmobiel from his motorcycle, causing it to lose control.

Dredd leans over the Batmobiel; Batman smashes him in the face, knocking him down.

From a prone position, Dredd kicks the legs out fro under Batman.

Dredd tells Batman that he's come just to fight him. He says that thge fight will be hand to hand, and throws away his gun. Batman says that that's crazy, and that he refuses, but Dredd kicks him; they fall through a rail into a playground

Batman punches Dredd, knocking him backwards.

Dredd hits Batman with the see-saw (he pushes one end down so that the other end hits him), then punches him in the face.

Batman hits Dredd in the face with a swing, flips over him, grabs the bar that forms the top of a swing-like piece of equipment, and powers into Dredd feet-first, knocking him face-first into a wall.

Batman takes a flying kick at Dredd, but Dredd ducks, and Batman goes over the wall into the path of an oncoming train (I guess the playground was by the train track). Dredd swears.

Batman manages to slow his fall by grabbing some sort of pipe; he lands on the top of the train. Dredd jumps on after him.

Batman goes onto his back and flips Dredd over him with his legs. Dredd goes over the side of the train, but climbs back up and kicks Batman in the jaw.

By now, the train is going over a bridge, and is quite high in the air.

The next page consists of twelve square pannels showing bits of the fight

1) Batman punches Dredd
2) Dredd punshes Batman
3) Batman and Dredd grapple
4) Dredd hits Batman
5) Batman hits Dredd
6) Batman and Dredd fall away from each other
7) Batman hits Dredd
8) Batman hits Dredd again
9) Batman and Dredd face off
10) Batman hits Dredd
11) Dredd grabs Batman
12) Dredd throws Batman onto the coll barge

Dredd jumps onto the coll barge. His foot accidently hits the locking mehanism, opening the hatch and spilling the coll into the river bellow.

Batman starts to lose his grip. He says, "Looks like you win, Dredd." Dredd grabs Batman's hand, and they both plunge into the canal.

I had thought the fight ended there, but I see there are a few pannels left:

Batman asks why Dredd saved him. Dredd replies "You know me--regular Samaritan" and punches Batman square in the face.

In the next pannel they are both lying on the ground, obviously exhausted. Dredd tells Batman that he hopes he's learned his lesson; Batman says that there's nothing that Dredd could teach him, and punches him in the face. At this point, Dredd ends the fight, so I guess it wasn't a clearl-cut victory for him like I'd remembered.

In case you're wondering, the real reason Dredd attacked Batman was this:

Judge Wells, a dimensional specialist, went on an unauthorized trip to Gotham Cityl; among the things he took back was a newspaper account of Batman's death; he died trying to save a senators children from being murdered by the Ventriloquest, and was killed in the explosion. One of Mega-City's PSIs had a promonition that Batman was going to be instrumental in saving Mega-City at some point in the future (and he is, in Die Laughing), so Dredd was sent over to save him. Since Batman would never agree not to interfere--the children would die if he did nothing--Dredd was trying to keep him occupied until it was too late. In the end, however, Batman does save the day, with some help by Dredd.

Mr_Famous
Bravo! Very detailed summary.....1st time for me to hear of this comic as well

Paola
moving to vs forum...

who?-kid
Dredd wins, but I only vote for him because he's (I think) the underdog. But he's at least as strong as Batman, is also a very good fighter and is very tough. He never quits.

But granted, two characters are very equal.

carnage24
Thanks for the move Paola
big grin Thanks Gregory ( just like reading a comic )
I like dredd's street fighting tactics.....and seems he can take a lot of beating when compared to batman.
( I did read the spoiler - dnt think I will get hold of that comic ever)
So I take Batman & Dredd team up to save the children...and as for the
Ventriloquest..
Can you shed some light on him/her/it?

Gregory
I don't know much about him. His real name is Arnold Wesker, and he's deeply schitzophrenic. He has two distinct personalities; a timid, mild-mannered man (Albert Wesker) and a rutheless, gangster-style criminal (Scarface). He channels the second personality into a wooden doll, called Scarface. Scarface utterly dominates Wesker, who takes orders from him.

carnage24
Ahhhhh now I remember him.....I did see him in couple of Batman Animated eps(Seems the puppet was alive or something. Although I think a puppet al capone wannabe villian is not very cool, It is one of Batmans toughest nemesis...Did Dredd have a go at it?

Dredd: "Freeze puppet, Ur goin to the Joint"
Scareface: "Ur not takin me down coppa bwahahahah"

Funny huh?

Gregory
It's like this; the senator's kid is in a play that involves her carrying around a doll. Scarface plants a bomb inside himself ("Scarface is a great believer in reincarnation." "You mean he's got another dummy at home."wink Wesker is to detinate the doll by remote control, but the kid hits the doll and "dislodged the signal frequency." I'm not sure if that means anything in the real world, but in comic-book-land, it meant that Wesker had to spend time manually searching for the frequency that will blow up the doll. He finds the right frequency just as Batman is telling the kid to give him the doll, but Dredd (who was following Batman, but who recognized Ventriloquest as he drove past) shot it out of his hands. One of Scarface's lackeys picked up the divice and detonated the doll, but by then Batman had gotten rid of it. It's all a bit silly (being smacked by a kid messed up the mechanics, but it still functioned after being shot be Dredd?), but good fun never-the-less. Dredd takes Wesker and Scarface's other lackey's in with a minimum of violence, so no real fighting.

Kontraz
i'd say batman would win if they fought again. Both have fought the predator, and batman faired much better than dredd did.... but thats about all i know of dread....

carnage24
hehehe they dont make bombs like they used to...yeah you cant beat up the ventriloquest cause there is not much to beat up.
So this bout was more of a "friendly nature"? Dredd was making sure that Batman lives to save their sorry city.

How would Batman of the future fare against Dredd? Since the Batman beyond suit is powered (while terry is fairly weak when compared to brucie).

crazyspinz
dred might win in like an arena or something, but with half a second of prep, or in a city batman would own dreds ass,

bats sees dred, dred sees bats, dred says "I AM THE LAW", bats says "sure u are..." then throws batarang and hits dred in face. bats takes a nap

Gregory
Friendly? I wouldn't say that; Dredd and Batman don't like each other. They weren't trying to kill each other, though.

Can't say how Terry would do; not a Batman Beyond fan.

who?-kid
Like I said, they're too equal, so it could go either way, but I have this feeling Dredd is even tougher than Batman.

First time they met, Batman had the pleasure to meet Dredds nightstick. Don't remember exactly how it went, but it was something like this:

Dredd : okay, pointy ears, hands up.
Batman : I'm on your side.
Dredd : Fine, so just do as I say (beats Batman unconsciousness).

That was a funny scene smile.

carnage24
Hehehe Dredd cracks me up....By the way....how was the artwork?? would very much appreciate a glimpse of their encounter if anyone has one on them.

Gregory
I don't have a scanner. But here's the cover and one image from off the net.

The dialogue reads: "And yeah--now that you ask, I am beginning to enjoy myself.

Mr_Famous
In a fight between batman with the beyond suit and Dredd- my bets on Batman. Terry may be weaker than Bruce but the suit amplifies his strength by a factor of ten, not to mention he can go invisible and has new gadgets as well.

carnage24
Thanks Gregory...looks like a decent comic.....a pretty bad knock he got there though...ooooo!!

But what about experience!!!! Dredd has nabbed the baddest criminals and all without a powersuit (but using nightstick and guns).

I think terry will be whopped pretty bad in a hand to hand combat.

Mane
Judge Dredd seems pretty queer. Im going with Batman.

crazyspinz
yes, bats owns dred, batman has beaten guys that would make dred wet his pants if he had to fight them, (supes, clayface, and various other crazy superthings)

who?-kid
Drok, I don't think somebody who fights Dark Judges for a living wets his pants that easily ! And Dredd doesn't mind killing (and has the equipment), and is probably older than Batman (Dredd went to an exclusive policeschool when he was 5 or something like that, years before Bruce Wayne even considered to visit the gym a little bit more).

Don't forget Dredd is considered the toughest cop (and most feared cop) in Mega City One with 900 million inhabitants. Oh yeah, last but not least, the world Dredd lives in is 100 years later in the future, and his weapons and motor bike can take out the Batmobile any day.

Batman can win, sure, but Dredd also.

who?-kid
Something I read some time ago on the Internet :

But seeing the Caped Crusader get his testicles almost handed too him and his cape and cowl ripped off by Dredd in just a few moves is actually sort of satisfying.

Batman is the ultimate scary hero. Bad guys fear him and even the good guys in Gotham get a little nervous when he is around. Even CAPTAIN AMERICA admitted it would be tough to take him down.

And Joe Dredd wipes the floor with him in just a few panels. YES!!!

Ok, sure Batman got in a few licks later. And he did actually put the Big J down at one point. And it did take a handfull of Judges to subdue him the second time.

But, it still goes to show just how tough Judge Joe Dredd is.

Man, do I sound sort of prejudiced against Batman? NAAAW!! I just sound more supportive of Judge Dredd.

Mr_Famous
that would suggest that dredd can take on cap america- not a chance! ....maybe someone should start another thread? smile

carnage24
I Think Dredd & Batman are sorta evenly matched and even though dredd or batman may not be able to take down cap, (who I refer to as an ENHANCED human being) they will give cap a run for his money.

The thing I like about these two is that they are just normal human beings using their abilities to the max(something mutants and other heros often rarely use......eg: supe prefering to keep punching the lights out of a baddie rather than using his speed etc....)

To conclude: Batman and Judge Dredd rule!!

Mr_Famous
I thought Batman did beat Cap in the Marvel vs DC crossover. stick out tongue

carnage24
Hummm not aware of that....

Mane
it was a stalemate.

Lord Shadow Z
Dredd would lose, he hasn't got the agility or fighting concentration of Batman when going into a fight with someone. He basically relies on intimidation and brute strength and Batman doesn't scare easily.

Dredd has the bigger 'superhero' chin though... big grin

Gregory
You found this on the internet, so I won't take you to task for not knowing the difference between taking someone down in a fight and sucker punching him while he's trying to reason with you. But someone obviously doesn't know what it is.

who?-kid
Yes, I found it on the Internet, I said that before. I copied it into this thread for two reasons:

1. his English is much better than mine, so I couldn't have said it any better.

2. to annoy the diehard Batman fans. I figured, they won't like it when Dredd sweeps the floor with their favorite character evil face . And it happened... and the next time they fought, they were trading punches for a long time, and the fight was interrupted by Dredd, who called it a day because there was no need to fight anymore. So Dredd still wins.

I agree the first time it was a sucker punch, but it was funny as hell !

And yes, I like Batman too.

AfricanLion
I don't think there is really a contest between Batman and Judge Dredd. Batman saw his parents die in front of him, then through will and determination dedicated his life to fighting evil. He studied martial arts with the best teachers in the world and has the best gimmicks money can buy. He is reckoned one of the top heroes, as evidenced by his inclusion in teams consisting of such high-powered beings as Superman, the Flash, etc.
Dredd, on the other hand, is merely a bully-boy. Yes, he is a lawman in a city with what, 900 million citizens or something, but that is merely an excuse to bully others less powerful than himself. He is protected by the law. Bats, on the other hand, has spent his life fighting against the odds, against foes more powerful than himself, out-thinking, outwitting, out-fighting them.
In a serious fight, if he really believed Dredd was evil, he'd take him out

Gregory
That makes no sense to me. Dredd wins because he ended the fight? Dredd's plan failed; he ended the fight too early, and Batman made his merry way to the one place in Gotham that Dredd didn't want him to be.

crazyspinz
bats pwns all, hes beaten many super powered enimies, some freak with shoulder pads and a pop gun wont do mutch to him

Gregory
The Dark Judges are also super-powered. You can have your opinions, but it's silly to trivialize Dredd as some people are doing.

who?-kid
I didn't make myself clear, my fault : I wanted to say that Dredd actually has beaten up Batman once, not vice versa. So Dredd, in the end, still wins when we're counting victories/defeats.

The fight in Gotham City I was talking about, ended without a winner or a loser, it was some kind of a draw.

who?-kid
So, does that make him invincible ?

Lol, you clearly do not know Dredd very well.

Primo : Dredd bullies everybody
Secundo : he is not a lawman in a big city, he is THE toughest lawman in the toughest city ever. Gotham City is a nice garden compared to Mega-City One. And ever heard of the Dark Judges ?

Correction : he IS the law.

Do you realize Dredd has had years of cruel and hard training ? We're talking about years before Alfred was ironing the Batcape for the first time.

I think otherwise. Dredd doesn't mind killing, so he won't hold back. Batman will.

I like'em both, but they don't come any tougher than Dredd. Batman can take Dredd, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever admitting this.

But Dredd can beat Batman also.

AfricanLion
Yes, have to admit I'm prejudiced, I was a Batman fan long before I started reading Dredd.

crazyspinz
you dont have to have a bias to tell who would win this, dred is just a tuf human with a kickass gun, batman is a tuff human with all the training in the world, plus a kickass belt that has every gadget ever

MERCILOUS
NO

You're underestimating Dredd's training. Dredd is as versatile as they come, as versatile as batman. As for the equipment, it's about even too. Especailly if you take into account that Dredd isn't opposed to using fire power.

yugotank
Dredd gives Batman a good beating and then gives him 20 years for fighting crime without a permit. "Punish the guilty and keep the inocent nervous"..........But the batman fanboys state: "With prep time and "files",Batman can beat anyone"....Well Dredd's got files too and needs NO prep time for anyone....Dredd is ready at all times to enforce the LAW........Judge Dredd is the LAW! Too bad the movie sucked

grey fox
Dredd beats the shit out of Wayne , cuffs him and then throws him into pedo-jail.

DARKLORDCAEDUS
Batman beats the crap out of Dredd and punishes him for being one sorry character.
