lil bitchiness
I have a problem on my comp.

When I leave it on to download and such, and im not there (as i do a lot anyway), after a while i get this pop up about how theres a ''worm''/ virus thing on my comp and I should run AVG for windows.

But when i run AVG, and when it finishes scanning, it says that ''there were no infections found'', yet that stupid window pops up, every time when i leave my computer on and i dont do anything on it for a long time. I updated the AVG before i run the test, and i have run the test numerious times.

Anyone know what it is or how to get rid of it? I did all Raz recomended in the ''Securing your comp'' thread...

m!$hA
maybe you have a trogan virus eek!

yerssot
*trojan

have you done a spyware check? some do get noticed by spybot and not by AVG

m!$hA
thanx babe smile
but i had that once, and all my 50 different spywear things didnt pick up on it erm

lil bitchiness
I'll try that thumb up thanks.

yerssot
only install 1, mish, I had two virusscanners a few years ago of a local (dutch mind you) company and they recognised eachother AND themselves as a virus roll eyes (sarcastic)

Clovie
i have polish on-line scanner and it is perfect happy

lil bitchiness
Argh...its not working sad

I did the spybot scan, and its still there.

yerssot
does it give a name ? and is it a windows pop up that says it or a program?

lil bitchiness
Hmm..I'll leave it on unattended now, and I'll copy what it says.

Raz
What is the worm called?

Do you have the Sygate Firewall installed?

Also I would use Ad-aware as I don't think the other one is updated.

lil bitchiness
I didnt install the Firewall, I'll install it if it'll help.

I dont know the name of the worm, I'll leave my comp on tomorrow when i go to uni, and the pop-up should appear again, so I'll see what it says.

Raz
Then you didn't follow my instructions stick out tongue

A firewall is a must to stop worms even getting near your computer.

It'll also let you control which programs can access the internet, and also let you know when your computer is being attacked from the outside.

lil bitchiness
Sorry Raz embarrasment pray

Anyway, this is what it says.

I'll go install the firewall now embarrasment

m!$hA
well i dont think theyre all actually virus checkers, but, my dad and brother being computer freaks, i have a lot of things (half of which i dont even know what they are messed) such as:

ad aware
norton anti virus
driver cleaner 3
disk defragmenter
pest patrol
sandra pro 2004
spybot
spyware blaster
windows washer

blink

Clovie
but this programs are not only virus scanners blink
most of them are doing different jobs erm

yerssot
lil ***** > the name is apperently Worm/Padobot.Z

and to put it gently... you're in a nasty situation: AVG cannot delete this virus...why? because it's in your systemrestore I see... virusscanners cannot delete or clean there.
this one can remove it :
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.korgo.removal.tool.html

or if you like McAfee; this should help with it too:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

those should clean it ... otherwise you have to delete your systemrestores and all

m!$hA
oh ... i said i didnt know what most of them were embarrasment

Clovie
yeah i know. stick out tongue

turn off system restore, delete worm, turn on srestore back. easy.

m!$hA
youre so smart hug

lil bitchiness
Argh, you're joking!sadDamn it!

I'll try those when I get home, hopefully it will work. thumb up

yerssot
wow... that gets star-ed out too blink

it should, I found it on the net wink well, if those don't, you can get rid of the systemrestores, there are websites about that

lil bitchiness
Excellent, thanks a bunch.

Ok, I tried the McAfee one, and it appears to have worked. I'll do the other one just in case happy

lil bitchiness
Thanks yerssot! I cleared the virus totally smile
