I just got a copy of SUperman:Red son, and ath the end it is revealed that Jor-El was actually a direct decendent of Lex Luthor over one billion years in the future, and that superman was actually sent back through time to earth. Is this the case in the normal DC universe, or was Jor El alive before Kal El landed on earth?

I think that was just an Elseworlds twist on usual events. I enjoyed Red Son though, and thought that the end was pretty clever.
