If you could have only one new feature for the forums which would it be?

KMC Mail - being able to use your Private Message box for emails and getting your own [email protected] email address.

or

KMC IM - being able to IM people and chat privately between yourselves, very much like MSN.

IM could use me better, since BK's MSN is broken, and we'd be able to chat this way when shes online without having to write long PMs and such.

well...er damn, both are good though atm, I'm leaning a bit more towards IM...

I'm afraid I'm the culprit. I just don't see the point. It's just a waste of space and effort for a short and useless venture. If you want to email someone, use conventional means. If you want to chat with someone, use a messenger service like MSN or Yahoo. But of course this is merely one man's opinion.

I hate instant messengers and I have a thousand e-mail accounts so... I'll just walk away from this one

Nah, i cant speak to BK over the MSN because her MSN is broken, however if we had IM on here, it would save us all the long PM messages wed write when we're both online anyway

I say both would be cool...but IM would be better, since I'm on here while I'm at school and the computers at school don't have MSN so I end up have to use PMs to talk to people

An IM clone would cut down on the kiddy chatter in some of the threads - depends if you thinks thats a good thing or not. Much as it can be annoying, it does give the place a lot of its flavour and hustle-bustle feel.

A mail would be much more convenient IMHO. The PMs are just the perfect means to chat with people. There no need for an IM service.

Multi would be the plan, kinda like a full MSN clone.

Oh and the reason its not multi-poll is because I'm going to start work on the most requested one first, and then possibly on the other if theres interest. I also wanted a long term project/challenge, something I can work on in my spare time - so the expected completion date is quite far off

I'm too lazy to write emails.. and I'm quite happy with Gmail... and I wanna speak to Chrissy.. so IM!

KMC has a lot of members and its a huge community and its friendly too. There is a guy doing a project on KMC, by the way. I directed him here from BoySetsFire board and he agreed to do his project on us.

There will be nothing to download. It will be purely browser based (using the technology behind GMail), which means you can use it anywhere you can get an internet connection!

Update - the server side is all done. Now working on the client part, which will take most of the time.

I know what your thinking,and yes I will be happy to beta test.

If I get time to work on it tomorrow, then Mr Dave should get a quick chance to alpha test before we proceed to beta - current target is Wednesday/Thursday.

Quick update - I'm thinking about rewriting the code to make it more efficient when it comes to multi multi-chats, which would mean the ETA for beta is next week some time depending on how much I can work on it.

my first choice is the IM.....but....the email would be really cool too .

Because of the redesign, the ETA is about a week or two away.

The IMer will use your current ignore list, and it will be a new window, pretty much like MSN Messenger.

Update:

Test yesterday with Dave was a terrible failure.

Test today with JKozzy however was an unbelievable success - worked like a charm. Next stage is to add the smilies and multiple chat option.
