Just watched Versus for the first time last night.
If you can get over the poor Jap acting, its actually quite good.
Think braindead meets matrix meets kung fu in a crack lounge.
Not sure if its really horror, but theres a nice amount of blood and gore.
And its got plenty of gun and sword play, definately worth a watch.

May want to re-think your abbreviations, as "Jap" is rather derogatory. Besides, I didn't think the acting was poor at all? The characters were supposed to be over the top, and eccentric.

And I guess you can substitute crap for over the top and eccentric.

It was kind of like a comedy at points though, which I didn't feel really fitted in to the dark tone of the film.

I thought the lead actor in Versus was pretty good, your classic anti-hero.

Yeah he played the character well, it was the goons chasing them at the start that got me. And the cops, what were they all about?

I agree with the 'goons' near the end of the movie, couldn't stand the acting, they were decent at the start, but the lead anti hero and the villian were good. Love the sword fights.

I didn't think it was supposed to be dark at all. It was a yakuza, zombie, wu xia, horror action comedy.

it's one of those movies that you can watch and dont need to put forth any mental effort for enjoyment. I love how the characters kept pulling weapons out of no where. reminded me of looney tunes.

Versus was fun to watch. That short skinny guy that was runnin around with blood on his face, and screaming all the time gave me a few good laughs.

If you're a fan of Versus or Ryuhei Kitamura, Versus 2 is coming out sometime in 2005, and Kitamura also said he's going to make Azumi 2.

They are already filming Azumi 2. Can't wait.

..and you should check out "Battlefield Baseball".

What a GREAT movie!!!! I love it!! It has everything I like: Katanas, Zombies, Yakuza, Guns, Gore, Violence, and a super cool ending. Is a shame there wasn't any nudity.

lol...who knows, maybe Kitamura will throw some in Versus 2 just for ya Wind

i dont like it, it reminds me of the other japanese zombie film junk...
martial art zombie films sound cool but versus wasnt my cup of tea

I thought Versus was fantastic. A lil slow the first 10 min or so....but after that....GREAT!

I'm talking content wise, but alrighty. To each his own.

It was fun, but it’s very overrated, when it comes to Martial arts and the Supernatural I will take "Mr Vampire" or "Close encounters of the spooky kind" over this every time!

How can something so few people know about be "overrated"? It's not rated to begin with. Don't confuse hype and opinion for substantial acclaim.
