Would you guys prefer to see a JLA movie or an Anvengers one? I think the JLA film would work better but either could be years and years way, I mean with character development and all.
Kamion
The Avengers would be eaiser and more interessting, but i would like to see both.
Havoc470
i would definitely prefer an avengers movie, lots of characters who havent had mainstream movies done on them, while JLA has superman and batman which would be hard to give them enough air time along with the other JLA members
Paola
I love Marvel, but I'd love to see a JLA movie.
Bardock42
A decent JLA movie would Kick Ass, well Avengers too but I like DC more.
Magee
I think the fact that a a lot of the JL members have had their own movies would make it easier. Someone who doesnt read comics could walk into a JLA movie and say, look Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman. I dont think they'd walk into an Avengers movie and say, Thor! Iron Man!!
Anyway the point is it will probably be more likely (however unlikely) a JLA movie would be made before an Avengers one. And i'd prefer a JLA movie to an Avengers one.
Havoc470
im pretty sure people would notice captain america and ironman, it would look much better on the movie screen than JLA imo
having big names like that in one movie is hard, especially for a superhero movie, brandon routh and christian bale (if they'd use these two) playing supes and batman ALONE would be hard to give airtime to the other characters, imo it would be SUPERMAN & BATMAN plus: THE OTHER GUYS
Magee
I dont think people who dont read comics r to familiar with the likes of iron man and captain america.
And i dont understand wat ur saying about it being hard to give others sum air time. Theres nothing hard about it at all. Unless u mean they will base the movie more around them just because there big name characters.
David Duchovony
Right look at Ocean's Eleven. It would just be a big budget flick.
Gregory
As a matter of fact, Batman and Superman played a pretty peripheral role in a lot of early JLA stories, and there were times when one or both of them weren't even in the League. I don't see any difficulty in having a movie where they didn't steal the show.
As far as the Avengers go, I think non-comic fans are probably familiar with Captain America, but none of the others.
Capt.JK
No matter which team actually made it to the movies, It would have to be a huge budget action flick to give it any chance at the box office, filled with several no-name actors. No studio would back a film with an enormous SFX budget plus salaries for several big stars. I think an Avengers movie, if one was ever made, would be the more likely choice, because Hollywood knows they could get a good film produced and make a fortune off of just Bat Man, Spider-man, or Superman alone, but if you take a guaranteed money-maker like a super hero action movie, populate it with several less recognizable heroes but with a lot of action and a good story primarily built around one very popular character, and have that part played by a relatively unknown star (i.e. Hugh Jackman and the X-Men franchise), you have a guaranteed money-making machine.
Personally, I think an Avengers movie, built around the discovery of Captain America and perhaps a battle with Ultron would make an incredible movie.
theflyxx
Definitely the Avengers.
Havoc470
i definitely think people would know ironman and cap, its ironman, he had a successful cartoon for a while and captain AMERICA...well, the name pretty much says it all
what i mean by not enough airtime is that some directors would obviously give bats and supes wayy more spotlight than the other characters, and if a director expresses interest in one of the other JLA members they're most likely just gonna make a movie on that single character (someone like GL or GA)
in oceans eleven it can be done because it isnt a super hero movie, each character in O11 have specific duties to carry out (grease man etc.)
while superheroes are all superheroes and you cant make a movie with supes fighting and batman in his cave giving intel while GL is doing some mission impossible-esque thing
Capt.JK
Yeah, but even in Ocean's 11, most of the screen time is given to the BIG stars: Pitt, Clooney, Damon, Roberts, and Garcia as the villain. The other members of Clooney and Pitt's crew received FAR less screen time. And you can bet their salaries are nowhere in the range of the above mentioned cast. Plus the SFX budget would be extremely higher than a movie like Ocean's 11, so the stars used would have to be unknowns or smaller salaried B-Listers. Look at the new FF movie: Although a couple of them are recognizable, only one of them has had any real career in the movies (Alba), and those were low-budget dance crap. The rest are all TV stars, and only one of them a headliner on his 2 previous shows (Chiklis). These guys are not commanding huge bucks for their salaries, therefore more can be spent on SFX and marketing.
joesha28
JLA is the best team around. But Avengers are more of a team with one voice. another thing is i don't accept Thor losing to Superman. I give this to the Avengers
Capt.JK

doh
PSSST! Somebody didn't read the thread description.
Havoc470
actually, all the people in ff have been in movies except chiklis
ioan gruffod was in king arthur and chris evans was in cellular and not another teen movie, those are just off the top of my head though and i think ioan gruffod has the best rep
Capt.JK
Yeah, but they're not big-time movie stars. They are only recognizable from their TV roles. Trust me, they are not receiving the salaries that Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts is getting for Ocean's 12 or any other movie. TV stars ARE cheaper.
Havoc470
yeah, of course they arent getting the same salaries, but i was just saying that chris evans and ioan gruffodd have the best reps compared to the other two
Capt.JK
Actually, I'd say Chiklis has the best rep and resume of the 4. He has received several awards and Emmys for his lead roles on "The Commish" and "The Shield".
Havoc470
yeah but tom cruise has basically never won anything and look at him
ioan gruffodd never got emmies (at least not to my knowledge) but he's been in king arthur, black hawk down, titanic, the gathering, and shooters, not to mention about 9 or 10 different tv series
Capt.JK
But most people wouldn't recognize him if they ran over him at the mall.
Capt.JK
"Come to me, Alba... Come to ButtHead."
Havoc470
lol!
thats a great pic
pr1983
the reason most people dont recognise gruffodd is because he's been doing dramas for the bbc for so long, he's a very distinguished theatre and television actor, just not in the states. i would tend to recognise alba or chilkis first though, cos i used to watch the commish.
Havoc470
i never saw "the commish", and i thought the shield sucked, but i remember gruffodd's roles in some of the movies i mentioned, and alba's one role in sincity makes me recognize her, that honey crap (i only saw commercials) just makes me think she's one of the 200 other young actresses doing crappy films
Capt.JK
"Commish" was actually a pretty decent show. I'm with you on your review of "The Shield"; "Dirty cops do not a good plot make." And I'd recognize Alba because... well, it's Jessica Alba.

the avengers would get their behinds spanked by the JLA. THe only really heavyweights in the avengers are thor and maybe scarlet witch, but both of them have now left the team. On the other hand, JLA has superman, wonderwoman, flash, GL, all of whom are way more powerful than the other avengers.
Havoc470
we're talking about which team would you prefer to see a movie of......
as a team in scope, i cant believe JLA has problems with some of the enemies they fight, i love this new avengers line up mostly (the first issue comes out today!) because we'll get to see these barely shown characters get airtime and i cant wait to see what kind of enemies they'll go up against
by the way the sentry is basically a superman clone for marvel, except he has an addition, it doesnt go into detail but he has the capacity to control light, he drank an experimental serum that creates a phase-shift in his molecules causing each atom to step ahead of the current timeline, the serum has a photosynthetic reaction, which results in a hyper state of consciousness so his powers are sort of limitless, there was a comic of his where he fought galactus to a stalemate, if thats true then he's one tough hero, he has basically an arch-enemy called The Void who's basically made of sentry's darkside (literally) he manipulates darkness as a physical and psychic weapon, Void is basically created from sentry's addiction to the experimental serum that gives him powers, he has really cool problems which makes the character unique and not an exact clone of superman, but the solar powers are the only things superman and sentry can relate to
damn i typed alot lol
David Duchovony
Ok. Lets say Routh and Bale were not cast for the roles of supes and bats, my ideal cast for the JL movie would be:
Superman- Patrick Warburton (Puddy from Sienfield)
Batman-Billy Zane/Barry Watson/David Boreanaz
The Flash (Wally West)-Hayden Christensen
Wonder Woman- Carmen Electra or Jessica Biel
Green Lantern (John Stewart)- Charles Divins "Chad Harris" from Passions
The Martian Manhunter- Brad Garrett with prosthetics or possibly CGI
Plastic Man- Maybe Bob Saget? (Dont kill me!!!)
Well I'm open to suggestions and I'm working on my Avengers list.
Havoc470
wow, frikkin horrible cast, if that happens you could kiss the JLA movie franchise goodbye, not having bale and routh as batman and supes just wont happen, its obvious that it wont happen, unless its some low-budget JLA movie
the person who should play cap imo
