Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my car!
when ever I turn the steering wheel- the tires squeel and the steering squeeks--
do I need new tires ?
new brakes?
new steering?
Imperial_Samura
When the car is moving? Or just all the time?

Could your steering column be off?
MornGlory
how would I know that??
isnt that where you steering pulls to the left or right when you drive?

Hmmm, perhaps. Of course your best bet would be to have a mechanic have a look see. It could be many things, a simple need for lubrication, something out of alignment, brake pads worn down... recently a wheel bearing went on my car, and it exhibited similar symptoms, ie the tires screeching when they moved, not actual of problem with the tires, but more what they are attached to, so I would say you most probably don't need new tires, and it is unlikely you would have to replace the steering....

I think I need new brakes-- my tires still look good - just had them replaced a yr ago and havent driven much this past yr

Try some some steering fluid. Sounds as though that could be your problem. Is the response time of your steering wheel to tires okay? If so, you might just need some fluid.

the steering just makes a lot of squeeching noises! -

Sometimes if one has been in sandy conditions or the like sand and stones can get into area's they shouldn't and make a lot of noise.

It's neither, It's your fanbelt slipping and making a squealing noise. Go out and either pour liquid soap on your fanbelt or gently rub it with abrasive paper (to help it grip on the turning wheels) or simply get a new fanbelt. I bet it happens more when it's wet. Am I right?

This is the problem, had the same problem with my 98 Nissian 4x4, put liquid soap on the belt and had it tightened a notch. Works great now.
