I would be a rogue jedi well versed in both sides of the force.
That way id be neutral but able to manipulate the power and hate and smooth calmness that occompanies only who dares enter both realms. The darkside of the force would be strong but not strong enough to make me a powerhungry idiot who wants to control the galaxy
yerssot
perhaps you wanted to post this in the Poll: If the Force was strong in you?
Ushgarak
That rather goes against the whole point of it all. You CANNOT use the Dark Side for selfless purposes; that is the point.
Look, Jedi are the ultimate good guys; you can't improve on them!
Ushgarak
Er, the official wacko, apparently.
yerssot
ah! you noticed

ryamathart
whos says you cant, its all up to the person using the force wether they chose to do what will just benefit them, or not is there choice lets us not forget kyp durron. OF course this should whole thread should been a reply.
yerssot
and EU doesn't count,
but you are still right...
it's up to peoples own choice, but I doubt they won't accept the Order
Ushgarak
No, it is NOT up to the person. The Dark Side ALWAYS makes you evil- it is a basic morality Star Wars has, and it cannot be complicated. Light Side is good and Dark Side is bad. You cannot just 'use' the Dark Side for good.
yerssot
if you are too far to protect anyone who's being attacked, if you choke the attacker, that's bad?
ryamathart
no one said i was using the dark side for good.
What if i got in a lightsaber battle with another sith and got really pissed and just beat he/she down until they were no more.
I wasnt using the darkside for good then i was using just to serve myself.
Ushgarak
Individual examples are as pointless as saying that grip is an inherently evil power. It;s just telekinesis.
The point is that the Dark Side of the Force makes you evil. It doesn't mwan that everytbing you do will be in some way malevolent, but it still makes you, as a person, evil.
ryamathart
ok, so anyone who embraces the darkside of the force is evil or will become evil, unless it is done unwillingly, then what happens when the give in can they?
Ushgarak
Well, define 'unwillingly'. I mean, you cannot trick or force a person into being evil; you can make him do evil things but that doesn't make him evil, only the person who forced him to do it.
So you can only turn out of your own free will.
If you mean a person who did not MEAN to turn but did... well, you know what they say about the path to hell. There are a lot of people in real life who never meant to be evil but turned out that way.
Bantha Fodder
What if I were to use the Jedi Mind Trick to get women into bed. Would that be evil? Would it be the dark side of the force, or the "light" side?
What if I protested, "make love not war", and refused to fight, but only used my Jedi powers for getting laid?
Would I be evil?
Ushgarak
I don't really see the relevance of those questions. Light or Dark Side doesn't set what sort of powers you have, it is simply a matter of how you focus your powers.
ryamathart
yeah it be funny to see the jedi mind trick used on a women who isnt weak minded.
Bantha Fodder
According to the AOTC novel, this is exactly what Yoda does. He somehow uses the dark side of the force to "probe" future for clues about why the dark side is growing more powerful. It is a dangerous task but Yoda is able to do it.
Although it is true that once a Jedi begins "using" the dark side of the force, it consumes them and their future. But somehow Yoda has enough self discipline to be able to do this under controlled circumstances.
Ushgarak
He may be probing the Dark Side but he's not actually using his darker emotions to power it, is he? Therefore not the same thing at all.
Captain REX
I agree with Ush's ideas of how the Force works. Once you use the Dark-side, you become entangled in it and therefore become evil.

Ushgarak
It might even be the other way around- that you cannot be on the Dark Side unless you are an evil person; that focussing your emotions to use powrr in such a way is not something a good person does; the slow corruption to evil may be purely a point of morality as you start to use your powers in a more and more misguided way until the point where you are no longer the person you were at all.
Either way around, the Dark Side and evil are joined; one goes with the other.
Captain REX
Err...somethin like that.

master harmax
Yup .... pretty much. Darkside = evil, lightside = good .... u can go with one or the other ... can't ride both horses at one time ... I wish the real world was as clear cut about this as Star Wars.
yerssot
actually, if you train on it you CAN ride on two horses, you see that in alot of shows
master harmax
umm yerss ... how do i put it .... well, there's this word called "figurative" u know ? as in " figurative figure of speech" as opposed to literal case scenario !

yerssot
who's speech are you talking about?
Fire
hihi hamax it was just a joke

yerssot
*runs throught the door*
*takes harmax' cigaret*
*puts it out*
*takes out paper which reads "smoking is bad for health"*
*tapes it on harmax' forehead*
*runs away again*
yerssot
*sprays airfreshner in harmax' mouth*
master harmax
WILLS CLASSIC ULTRA MILDS !

Ushgarak
Anything relevant on all this?
master harmax
umm, not presently.
Julie
sure...rogues jedi...hmm something intriguing about the whole concept
