I'm getting my PC running again and I wanted to know what you folks recommend as far as internet service providers. Any reccomendations?

I would never use Netscape...I hate it...I have MSN service and I like it. It's the cheapest, I think, out of the 3 you listed.

Netscape has a 5x dial up accelerator option. Anyone ever use it? Does it work well, I just want the fasted connection for dial up right now. I'll get DSL later.

I use my local connection service..so...:/ I just use Netscape Browser, I also have but do not use IE cause it locks up every 4 seconds.

Okay, but how do I download Mozzila Firefox if I can't get on line on my PC?

If you want an ISP, call SBC-Yahoo for DSL or Earthlink.

Or just use the ISP you are on right now.

I use Mozilla for browsing. I love it.

So, right now I'm on my mom's Mac. She has explorer. So, I should intall explorer into my PC, plug her phone line into my PC, access her account that I'm using now, then download Mozilla? Is that how I'd do it?

Look, if you want your OWN internet, call them up for an extra line or something. If you just want internet right now, do that.

Okay, just look at it this way:

There are ISPs and Browsers. ISPs connect you to the internet. You pay for them. Browsers are programs that you use to get on the internet, some are free, some aren't. YOU NEED AN ISP. After that, you can get any free Browsers (Firefox, Avant, etc.) you want.

ISP = Internet Service Provider

i just use the local cable company stuff works fine and is pretty fast. itd work better if my computer wasnt so crappy

No sh!t? I always thought ISP's and Browsers were the same thing. I suck at computers.

Yea so you need to sign up to an ISP. You can get SBC DSL, Earthlink Cable, or just some other company Dial-Up. If you want one of the first two, you're going to pay more, get equipment, etc. ...you should just use the same ISP for the whole house.

i have mine through my cable company...its sooo much better then dial up....im spoiled to it now

As Scarpa and Mike said, SBC...SBC is great, I love it. My current ADSL connection is flawless. I prefer it to all other ISP's in my area, including the cable carrier's.

Then of course, use Firefox as your browser
