if you have a sony DVD player, does it play out-of-region DVD's?

You need to get a special chip, I think

You have to have it coded properly!

oh ok, i was just wondering, coz when i bought my dvd player the guy said it played all region dvd's but i think he was lying coz in the manula it sed it didnt, but the region 1 master and commander worked, nz gets region 4 dvd's so...........

NO MY SONY DOESN'!!!! i got Scar Face on DVD from some whacky Aussie on Ebay and it didn't work. Luckily they re-released it so now i have it. Stupid Sony! But it does play VCD's so that's kinda cool.

my DVD recorder plays everything mate DVD-, DVD+, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and every region
