BackFire

Shaolin Monk

http://www.countingdown.com/movies/3169845/news?item_id=3574294 the teaser (scroll down)

dean7879
i cant wait for the sequel...have u saw the trailer?? looks great

Scarpa
Didnt Rob Zombie direct that one?

MildPossession
Yes he directed the first and the second one. Isn't the second called Rejects?

The first one was nothing special, had some good scenes in though worth watching. Wouldn't go out of my way to see the sequel though, will wait till it's out for rent.

Cinemaddiction
"The Devils Rejects" is the title of the sequel. Didn't like the first one, as it was pretty much a Rob Zombie video saturated with TCM "homage". Guess how I feel about a sequel?

DaneBramage
I don't think this will be a 'real' sequel to H1KC. This looks like a homage to the "Thrill Killer" movies of the 1960's. As H1KC was a homage to SpiderBaby and TCM.

SweetNsouR
the first film lacked in originality and taste... how many times am i going to see people strip off flesh and wear it. silence of the lambs...TCSM...next thing ya know uggs and ponchos will be out and everyone with be in the 'new leather'

i really hope the second movie answers the ques i have. im planning to see it

Major Knight
The first film was absolutely horrid and pointless, at least i know enough now not to go see this one.

SlipknoT
I'll go see it, but I'm not expecting much

Darth_Big_Boy
I'm looking forward to the sequel as I enjoyed the first one.

Major Knight
Well since you liked it, i hope you can answer me a few questions, like what the hell are those creature underground?, was she in hell? i never really knew because there could be alot of different reasons with the writing of rob zombie lol.

SlipknoT
It actually looks really good.

tabby999
i'm with C-Dic, not interested in this one at all

stunna1773
second is the devils rejects

Zilverz
1000Corpse was great !!! very creepy elements. Im totally anxious to see Rejectzzz

MildPossession
I don't have high hopes for Rejects, maybe I will enjoy the violent/gore element but everything else looks disappointing for me. A film magazine called Sight & Sound gave a rather disappointing review for the movie and I will probably feel the same way towards it since I usually agree with the reviewers in the magazine.

Evil Dead
The Devil's Rejects actually looks pretty good to me..........and I was one of the harshest critics on here of House of 1000 Corpses. Looks like Zombie may have learned something in the past few years.......

BackFire
At the Panel for this movie he said that he tried to do a different approach to this movie because he wasn't happy with the end result of House of 1000 corpses.

Cinemaddiction
The actual END of "House", on my 2nd go round, is what didn't sit will with me. Shoulda dropped the casket in the well and called it a day. Looks like "TDR" is more of a "The Hitcher" approach to Horror.

BackFire
Yep, can't wait for it.

papabeard
Released on August 5th in the UK, I'll be going to see it.

Impediment
What people fail to realize is that Rob Zombie is NOT a master director like Spielburg or Scorcese, instead he is a singer thats been rocking out for 15 years. A lot of people blasted House Of 1000 Corpses saying it was amateur and cheap, but some people need to step outside the box and realize that this movie was his big screen directorial debut, so hes bound to learn and improve by the next movie, The Devil's Rejects. Yes, it was not the most original story out there, but it WAS creepy, gory, and inventive with dialogue and characters. The best scene, in my opinion, was the opening sequence with Captain Spaulding murdering the two redneck wannabe muggers. The Devil's Rejects looks promising for many reasons, mostly becasue this movie will have experience behind it. I cant wait to see it again and again.

Cinemaddiction
Well, I just got back from it, and I have a solid hour before I go see "Hustle and Flow", so I'll share a review.

"The Devil's Rejects"

When auteur Horror director Rob Zombie last left us, the Firefly clan leader, Captain Spaulding, had picked up a lone survivor of the estate, suggesting the circle wasn't yet complete. In the latest journey into the sadistic, Zombie reacquaints us with our favorite dysfunctional family. Fugitives, cum mass murderers, the S.O.S. is put out by Baby that the law is hot on their trail. In typical Firefly fashion, why not partake in a little murder and mayhem on the way out of town?

"The Devil's Rejects" marks a totally new approach by Zombie. His characters, stern, lacking the vibrance and animation abounding in the original, save the always colorful Captain Spaulding. A mature tone in it's place, the movie is a chronicling of one brothers quest for revenge and retribution, carried out with incredible conviction by William Forsythe. On the subject of casting, in addition to great roles filled by iconic figures including Foree and Berryman, kudos to Bill Moseley's "Otis", for his standout performance.

Crtiquing the meat and potatoes of the film, lets talk violence. After seeing "Haute Tension" in theatres, I'm now certain the MPAA has a few Horror buffs on their panel, because "The Devil's Rejects" without question is the most violent and provocative film I've seen in the past 5 years, in this time of such strict ratings.

The lowly nature of the Firefly clan shines through in Zombie's visual narratives, set to a FANTASTIC Southern rock soundtrack. At times, so much so, I was uncomfortable, mostly with the crude sexual nature. Some times just.."there", other times a plot device. While it gave us an idea exactly HOW depraved this clan was, it wasn't necessary, and the violent acts commited spoke volumes already. Straight up, it's an incredibly brutal, and eerily realistic film that leaves you unnerved like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

While I think it was an honest attempt at a more "mature" Horror film, in the way of experience, I think Zombie's on his way. It's a very raw film, very striking, and he seems to know the subject matter in and out, but at times, it just felt wobbly, shifting gears with it's plot, not sure of where to put the importance, either the revenge angle or the "NBK" kill thrill angle.

Overall, it's a very different film from the original. Less campy, more direct, an overall solid effort that's just oozing with violent content, snappy humor that enriches the seemingly inhumane characters we're supposed to hate, and one hell of a job by Mr. Forsythe.

tabby999
so has he kept that hell annoying "throw in a random hyper colour shot" theme he was going with the first time?

tpaquin
Saw it. I liked it, a lot. Zombie's very fond of emulating 70's horror to no end, though. His "TV" cuts make more sense, but some of the early-on pacing, aswell as the pacing in the otherwise spectacualr last scene were off. Killer soundtrack. Not quite as much fun as "house", though. He needs to pop that camera on a tripod, every so often. Much better story.

SlipknoT
I just came Back to the Theater and I Got Much more than I expected, I thought it was amazing. Spaulding was Bad ass. Honeslty I'd give it like a 9/10

kmcdude
1 word..........meh

Cinemaddiction
Well, Bill Forsythe should get some kind of something for his performance because he was baaaaaaaad..asssssss...

I've already totally forgot about his performance in "Deuce Bigalow".

Zilverz
i havent seen this yet... getting very excited by the positive reviews... was just posting to make the comment i didnt know Ken Foree from the original Dawn of the Dead was in this. Says his name is charlie ...

Cinemaddiction
Yeh, he plays a pimp out in the middle of nowhere. Why a pimp, I have no idea. I don't get Zombie's supposed need to "filth" his films up.

b-dan
i liked the first one second looks better they got Danny Trejo

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001803/

Cinemaddiction
Danny and Diamond Dallas Page play hitmen, actually.

tabby999
so...did he get rid of the random hypercolour shots or what?

Such a bad ass movie. I loved the first, so it will always be my favorite, but the second was much better as far as quality goes. Awesome ****ing movie, the best I've seen all year.

And yes, he does get rid of the random hypercolor shots. Even though those didn't really bother me. It was just kind of Rob Zombie being himself, in my opinion.

tabby999
thank god that:
1. someone answered my f*cking question and
2. he got rid of those bloody shots. it gave me the shits, i guess it reminded me of Natural Born Killers too much

LousyBoy
aaaww.. poor baby. Yeah Devils Rejects was a much better movie. Seein it again.

DaRk Lotus
Any body see the movie?

hh?

Rob Zombie said he wanted to make them more realistic happy

it worked out well...

The_Inevitable
Yeah, favorite part is the very end.

Tired Hiker
I saw it yesterday, and I was not dissappointed. Highly entertaining disturbing stuff! Loved every minute of it. I especially loved the Thelma and Louise ending. wink

Zilverz
Great movie. This continuation of House 1000 is not as Dark and creepy as the first, but Cine chose the right word "brutal". Also, i love the chicken ****in scene .. just hilarious .... and when Danny Trejo was talkin about him and diamond have to "Be like roaches" "Think like roaches" "and even have little roach brains " i was laughin my ass off

Tired Hiker
Yeah, the dialouge was funny, and the part that stands out the most for me was when the brother was making that girl wear the mask made from her boyfriend's face. Eeeeeeewwww! Disturbingly delightful!

Impediment
Rob Zombie says he will "hang up his rock boots" and concentrate on being a filmmaker after this last album he releases. While I am sad to hear this, I am confident Zombie will have a film career just as fruitful as his music. I can't for what the future holds.

Deano
gonna borrow it off my friend 2moro..cant wait

heres a sig i made

Tired Hiker
Backfire, have you seen it yet?

KidRock
The first one sucked so much. You couldn't pay me to see the second one. Rob Zombie should stick to sucking at music instead of movies.

Cinemaddiction
Granted, he's no Bob Ritchie.

Deano
devils rejects is one cool movie
i enjoyed it alot..
promising future for rob zombie

Jason_Krueger
Rob Zombie out did himself in this one.....upon viewing House of 1000 Corpses I was a little wary about watching its sequel, but I finally paid the 7$ to see it and got my moneys worth and then some. This film could go down as one of the greats....the only thing better is the score. Lynyrd Skynyrd's FreeBird fit the final scene perfectly, all the respect I lost for Rob Zombie due to his first movie is all back and has doubled.

Deano
i rlly enjoyed house of a 1000 corpses...the sequel is just as good

Deano
i dont think it is as disturbing as the first one though

Lil Krueger
Guys I need help. You know the part where the clown smiled at the kid and his mother? He punched the mom and went inside the car. He said "Whats wrong, afraid of clowns?". What happened after that?

Deano
why dont u watch it?

Killer movie with an awesome soundtrack! This is the film House of a 1000 Corpses should have been! I just wish more people would've been cut up rather than so much use of guns. Still had brutal parts, though.

zombieman
Got a chance to see this today, and I have to say, all of the ingredients for a perfect slasher movie were present. For the duration, its genuinley shocking and full of suspense with some disturbing performances from the main cast.

It's not all derogatory and vacuous either, there is some great cinematography - I loved the way the scene at the begining with the tear gas was shot, and the final scene was well done too.

The bits of black humour fit in well too, all in all I'd say we can thank Rob Zombie for making a slahser movie they way they should be made.

Deano
i wasnt disturbed at all, devils rejects is violent but not disturbing

in the first one i found it disturbing the way the bad guys always seemed to be on top and the good guys never had much of a chance to escape

papabeard
A couple walked out of the cinema just after the gun in the pants scene, ive never actually seen anyone walk out of a film before because it offended their sensibilities.

I liked the film, not as much as the first one, but it was good, i think it was more disturbing because the humour was kind of toned down. William Forsyte was incredible, made me laugh so much and i loved all the moustache action, almost every character had a moustache.

This was more like a 70's exploitation than a horror, and yet again he used the dead skin mask, but i suppose his last effort never made it to the cinema so i suppose he wanted to see it on the big screen.

Also you could see so much detail on the faces of the characters, every line and drop of sweat, i thought that was effective.

Was it the same actress that played firefly in the first one?

Also i didnt like tiny's make up, too over the top.

Kupotek
TDR was okay. Nothing brilliant or genre breaking.

Aini
I've finally seen it on the fanasy-film-fest and I really like it. Not as much as the first one but it's good. Rob has gotten great actors in both movies, bill, sid and karen and in the second one the cop. they are great. Why isn't karen in the second one? does anyone know?
it's been announced as being more brutal than the first but I don't thought so. (except the scene in the hotel with otis and the women. I hate those stuff) I'm not quite sure if I would even call it a Horror movie.
But I think Rob did a great job. I like the cuts (the one with captain spaulding and the coffee was brilliant), the humor and the music is great also.

papabeard
Karen?, does she not get killed and you see her in photo in the paper or something

Aini
you mean the actress got killed? or the character mother firefly (she gets killed by the cop)?

papabeard
i thought the "Karen" you referred to was another character, not an actress.

Dont know why it was a different actress, i think the actress in the first one is quite respectable, maybe didnt want to be associated with TDR or maybe working on something else.

Aini
the new actress is good but Karen Black was better.
...the second one had way too shiny teeth in the film. that kinda bothered me throughout the movie.

papabeard
She did look kind of like her, but it was a wise decision by Rob Zombie to kill her off early, i hate when they replace actors in sequels its like when they replace a member of a band, it just doesnt work.

Aini
yap, I hate that too
(a friend of mine didn't even noticed that she's not the same)
