Im making this poll as a favor to my sister . She is going into have a a consultation with a surgeon for a breast reduction . She researched her doctor and found him to be a well qualified doctor . She did not pick this doctor based on his gender . She works for a radiologist clinic where she schedules appts for patients to see the doctors .

Her husband is not comfortable with the fact that her doctor is a man . Its his opinion that she is the only female that doesnt mind having a male doctor . Obviously this is not true . Why he thinks this is beyond me .

I have a male GYN doctor and i wouldnt change based on his gender...he is a great doctor and thats why i go to him .

please give me your honest opinion here....

I am not a big fan of doctors or hospitals either they scare the pant off me or the skirt for that matter!It also does not matter if they are a girl or a boy as long as they know what they are doing then I am fine.JM

Oh I'm not scared, I'm just one of those people who'd go to work with a limb missing or a fatal illness or something alike.

Whenever I go to a doctor it matters more to me that they know their job, are considerate and make me feel comfortable. I've had a male Indian doctor every time I've had 'personal' examinations and it hasn't bothered me

I don't care but I prefere female doctors as long as it aint about my privates (then I think a male doctor just has a better feeling about it)

Seriously no it doesn't matter what gender your health care professional is, if your comfortable with them and they work for a reputable clinic then there should be no problems!

When I had appendicitis earlier this year I was examined by several female doctors, and following surgery I had be catheterised and that was done by female nurses... which was nice!

We all know guys are dumbasses anyway, but I've never questioned it, and I've only had female nurses, and doctors. I'd perfur to only have a female doctor do my physical.

generally it doesn't matter.

All my doctor's are male, my dentist, family, former ortho, my former paediatrician


The only one I wouldn't want a male is a gyno, a tad creepy in my opinion

I was a little weirded out initially, but mine was so sophis I felt like if I made a fuss I'd seem unbalanced It was like him having to perform that examination didn't register on his brain, I guess doing it as often as he did it must become like second nature

Haven't had a lot to do with doctors (don't get ill much), but generally it doesn't matter to me, I figure they have all spent years training, if they have the qualifications, then thats good. After all, they see a lot of people, I doubt gender really matters.

no way shellie I choose a doctor based on qualifications...doctors see womens body's everyday and when they are doing their job they are not looking at them as sexual objects.

I know a male nurse and asked him this very question and he let me know he was quite annoyed at this misconception that medical practitioners are 'turned on' by the site of a nude woman while working at the hospital. he wants to help people and has been literally turned away because of his gender.

I see it that way too, it must be like a second nature to them... I can't imagine they get turned on by it, they're seeing a huge amount of the same thing. I'm willing to bet that doctors have their own freaky fetishes though, which probably have nothing to do with nudity exactly for this reason

It doesn't MATTER to me.

I mean it's embarassing from both points of view. If you have to have your downstairs checked by a guy and things get a little stiff just based on that area being touched, you kinda feel embarassed that it happened at the hands of a man. Even though there is zero attraction. If it happens at the hands of a woman, it's embarassing incase she thinks there is an attraction. I don't really care though. I am never reluctant but I am alot more relaxed when it's a female though. However medically, they aint gotta live with a penis, so they probably won't know what some guys do.

If I book an appointment and it involves that, and it's a male doctor, then I have no problem.
