The Ones
has anyone noticed nearly every dvd thats coming out is now a special edition, why dont they just keep all the stuff in 1 dvd and have it a normal edition instead of producing 2 versions
Mane
Money. Someone who is a fan of a movie will buy the first edition that comes out, but when they release a special edition, people who own the first will still buy the second. They gt twice the money.
Dr. Strangelove
What Mane said and "Special Edition" "Deluxe Edition" "Explosive edition" etc. are just a studio ploy to try to make a DVD look better to the buyer.
Cinemaddiction
..that, and sometimes when a movie gets a sequel, they rehash the original release and add new features for fun. Sometimes, they end up being cheaper.
Tuesday, 2 disc versions of "The Fifth Element" and "Leon: The Professional" are being released. This marks the 4th time "Leon" has been on DVD, and the 3rd "Fifth Element" has. This time, they are 2 disc versions.
MornGlory
they should have normal dvd and then a special edition - they should make all dvds special with all the cool stuff...
why do special editions have to cost like $500 and the boring normal dvds cost like $1
Cinemaddiction
They are normally the same price, given you buy them the week of their release.
The Ones
the lord of the rings movies cost like £20 when they came out as normal versions and the speicial editions cost £40
Wolfie
Ever notice how with a lot of movies, the only edition out is labeled "Special Edition"? I guess that goes with Dr. Strangelove's comment about making the DVD sound good.
Red Superfly
Yeah, what the hell is that all about? I'll admit THAT is cheap.
There is only one version of a certain DVD on the shelf, yet it is labelled a "Special Edition" - despite the fact there is no such thing as the "standard" version, because the "Special Edition" is actually just the standard version. Wierd.
dean7879
special editions??
its just a con to get more money out of us!
Wolfie
And it must be working if they're still doing it.
MornGlory
special editions dont have that much more than normal editions
Wolfie
Well, it depends. The original Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Army of Darkness (to name a few) DVDs had no special features. The special editions out are packed with them and reasonably priced.
Jackie Malfoy
Not sure. But I do'nt mind I like when they have special Editions it is cooler that way.Anyhow it might just be for now maybe soon they will stop having it on dvds.JM
