SPACE

A sea of stars is broken by the vast blue surface of the planet,
UTAPAU. Five small moons slowly drift into view from the far
side of the planet. The main titles are followed by a roll-up:

Until the recent GREAT REBELLION, the JEDI
BENDU were the most feared warriors in the
universe. For one hundred thousand years,
generations of JEDI perfected their art as
the personal bodyguards of the emperor.
They were the chief architects of the invin-
cible IMPERIAL SPACE FORCE wich expanded
the EMPIRE across the galaxy, from the
celestial equator to the farthest reaches
of the GREAT RIFT.

Now these legendary warriors are all but
extinet. One by one they have been hunted
down and destroyed as enemies of the NEW
EMPIRE by a derocious and sinister rival
warrior sect, THE KNIGHTS OF SITH.

A small silver spacecraft emerges from behind one of the Utapau
moons. The deadly little fightercraft speeds past several of the
moons, untul it finally goes into orbit around the FOURTH MOON.

2. WASTELAND - FOURTH MOON - UTAPAU

A harsch gale blows across the bleak grey surface of the Fourth
Moon. The leaden sky presses down on a lone figure, ANNIKIN
STARKILLER, a tall, heavy-set boy of eighteen. He slowly makes
his way across the canyon floor. The heavy winds whip at him
and make the going extremely difficult. His face is covered by
a breath mask and googles. Hes tops for a second to adjust the
shoulder strap on his chromo multiplelazer rifle.

Something in the sky catches his eye, and he intinctively grabs a (nair?) of......

Basically, Lucas always uses his old ideas. The appearence of Maul in Episode I was what The Emperor was meant to look like in Episode 9. But of course 9 never got made so it was 6, but he changed the appearence to a withered old man with great power. And Vader was meant to be a General in uniform, not a menacing black masked dude standing at 2.2 metres.

Indeed- Utapau was in the original draft of TPM as well, later substituted by Naboo. Basically it is GL's placeholder planet name until he comes up with a replacement- but in the final Episode, it is finally being actually used.

I was reading the link that Snake posted as it's been a good while since I read any of that and imagine my suprise when I read the name originally of Anakins father! (it's what me and my other half are going to call our 1st son due around the release of EP3). It's amazing the things you brain forgets... I had totally forgotten that.....laughing out loud laughing out loud
There you go totally off topic but I coudn't resist teling someone big grin

Wayne...

Count Doodoo
They should make that early draft into a graphic novel or something -- wouldn't that be cool?

eXSBass
Not really. I can't see that happening! The characters have evolved from that script.

Snakebyte
many things are very funny:

"Stardestroyers are two-man space craft crammed with sophisticated electronic weaponry."

"General Skywalker is no myth. When I first arrived at court, he was the First Bodyguard to the emperor" (this fits in some kind...)

...

everything is twisted big grin

Red Superfly
This was actually rather boring. I'm glad he re-wrote it.

bilbofett
