Apart from superman, supergirl and brainiac, were there any other survivors of the kryptonian explosion? (in the mainstream DC timeline)

In the movies, there were 3 evil kryptonians, and on the 90's TV series there was an entire planet of survivors who lived on 'new krypton'.
Are any of them featured in the DC comics?
Was new Krypton only invented for the TV series?


For a race that were supposedly 1 billion years more evolved than humanity, they should have had colonies all over the galaxy, and at least one (if not more) GL corp members. So why did they all die out just when the home planet exploded. You would think that they would either have known about their immenent doom or that at least some of them would have been off-world at the time.

Yep, Kandor was the capital of Krypton.

Kandor survived the destruction of Krypton because it had been stolen by Brainiac, who reduced the city to microscopic size and preserved it, people and buildings intact, inside a glass bottle aboard his spacecraft. It remained there for many years until July of 1958 when Brainiac came to Earth and attempted to add Metropolis to his bottle-city collection. Superman foiled Brainiac, recovered Kandor, and placed it inside his Fortress of Solitude for safekeeping.

since when supergirl is kryptonian

There is two Supergirls. one of them is Kryptonian.

Kara is Superman's cousin. They have the same powers although since Kara is a female she may portray different abilities. The other Supergirl is...well I really don't know what the heck happened to her.

As far as I know Supergirl was around and then killed off by DC at the end of Pre-Crisis. She was Superman's real cousin. When she died, noone remembered her. Then later on Superman found a girl in the Antarctic wrapped in Superman clothing. When she woke up he found out that she was sent here by a Lex Luthor in a different universe to find Superman. There was a Superman from that universe or actually a Superboy (He had all of his powers even as a boy) but he went missing 10 years earlier. Then 3 Kryptonians came and attacked the Earth in that Universe and killed Lex Luthor's wife Lana Lang. That made Lex create a person who had telekinetic powers and could shape shift and sent her to Earth Prime (original Earth) to find Superman to help defeat those three evil Kryptonians. So Superman went back with her but at the end her Universe was destroyed and she came back with Superman to Earth Prime and stayed with the Kents for awhile before she ended up in Metropolis and became Lex Luthor II's girlfriend or whatever. Then some other stuff happened after she found out how Lex really was... she left Metropolis and wandered around Earth. Until a girl by the last name of Danvers or something (the girl pretty much worshipped Supergirl) was killed and then Supergirl merged forms or beings with her and they became one person able to switch back and forth from Supergirl to the other girl. Theres more after that but it is confusing. Hope this helps. Or if anyone has better details than what I listed feel free to list them.

So Non and Ursa from the Superman movies were never in the comics?

I don't think so. I know Superman killed Zod in the comics and felt so bad about it that he exiled himself from Earth for a while.

Don't forget the Eradicator...

The Eradicator and General Zod are my favorite Kryptonian villains.
