MIL
Sorry if I'm the only one who doesnt know this.

What does something like MCMXVII at the end of movie titles mean?

Thanks!

ragesRemorse
They are Roman Numerals. aka numbers. i mean really are you serious?

Cinemaddiction
It's 1917.

Clovie
roman numbers
they're saying which year move has been made.

this one is 1917 blink are you sure it was that way?

Paola
moving...

BlackC@t
Oh! I'm being moved along with the thread! eek!

Clovie
pao cry

Snipes
its what number super bowl it is gonna be in a loooooong time.

do you reckon football will still be around?

eleveninches
1917

eggmayo
American football.

Snipes
yeah american football.

i dont like english football (soccer for all you yanks)

eggmayo
But you agree that seeing as we invented it and called it football, you shouldnt just call it 'sawker'

Snipes
its called soccer in australia and america and other countrys to avoid confusion.

seeing that the National Rugby League is the main sport in australia, and the National Football League is the main sport in the US, it is easier to call an adopted sport soccer rather than having 2 games called football.

did that make sense?

eggmayo
Kinda actually, I apologise for that.

Snipes
when was the last time you guys won the world cup? because considering you guys "invented" it, how come brazil kicks major ass? stick out tongue

p.s. dont take that comment serious, its just a joke, but i would like to know when england last one the world cup?

eggmayo
1966, and the inventors aren't always the best at it.... I bet i could whick you're ass at baseball.

Snipes
im pretty sure you could.

ive never played baseball. ive never even picked up a bat.

You do realise im not american? im actually australian?

but i bet i could kick your ass in golf yes

eggmayo
Noone beats me with an iron...

Snipes
so you play golf? nice, i paly about once a week, but i dont have a handicap cause im not a member of any glof clubs, but im getting a membership for my birthday.

eggmayo
I only play casual like, theres no golf courses within about 20 miles of here, I just seem to have amazing luck with some of the shots.

Clavis
its 1917 for sure eek!

Snipes
what superbowl are we upto now?

why cant the americans would be nice to dumb aussies and write the superbowl numbers in normal numeric fashion

Jackie Malfoy
I love roman letters they are so neat looking!I only know some of them but that is a good question I had no idea either what they meant.JM

eggmayo
Whats the superbowl letters?

Snipes
XXXIX

Snipes
is that 39th? or something, im not good with roman numerals, its been awhile.

Snipes
i think thats right, cause X is ten, there 3 Xs, so thats 30

and then theres IX and that is supposed to mean 1 less than 10 isnt it?

can some smart person tell me if its 39

eggmayo
Thats 39

Snipes
yay, i was right, year 7 maths is comin back to me

42Bardock

MIL
thanks guys ...
I got the roman letter thing which indicates when a particular movie was made,
but whats MCM stand for?

Thx

42Bardock
M means 1000
C means 100
CM means 1000 minus 100 therefore 900
so MCM means 1900

But maybe you mean MGM
that means Metro Goldwyn Meyes and it is a Production Company I think

Oh and by the way read my post before Germany whops Englands ass in Football easily (Real one as well as p()ssy whimp american one)

Cinemaddiction
So what do you call Hacky-Sack? blink

(Bardock, don't circumvent the profanity filter, mate.)

42Bardock
But I like these ********* stars ********* so much can I please? If I put the stars instead of typing the word would that be okay?

Clovie
you learn roman numbers in primary school blink

42Bardock
I learned it in 7th or 8th grade too. Like Binary and those you know

Clovie
we have roman numbers at the very begining of it
and binary is later.

42Bardock
well I can't remember when exactly, but oh well.

eggmayo
What the hell is hacky-sack?

Londonboy7
This should of gone in the movie...

Never mind

42Bardock
Yeah never mind...YOU
Hacky sack are this small thingys you can kick around and try to hols in the air. It deserves the Name Football way more than "American Hockey-without-sticks-or-ice-for-that-matter"

Snipes
in australia, we call hacky sacks, hacky sacks.

Cinemaddiction
I guess Foster's isn't Australian for Hacky-Sack afterall. Those bastards.

Cinemaddiction
Basically a little leather/plastic ball full of pellets that hippies and "sawker" players kick around. Thus, an ACTUAL football.

Snipes
whats with americans thinking aussies like Fosters.

Fosters is baaaaad, thats why we export it.

Cinemaddiction
LOL! I was just joking about Foster's being "Australian for..." anything. I guess you guys, like the rest of the world, are Guiness fans.

Snipes
lol, im only 17, so im not supposed to know.

but ive only had guiness once, only a little bit. i didnt mind it, but i perfer Tooheys Extra Dry

eggmayo
I'm an English ale fan, don't like any of that weak bubbly crap you call beer.

Corlindel
It means:

Mamma Calls Me Xenophobic Virgin In Italian

stick out tongue

42Bardock
Oh yea, I forgot that, he's right.

German Beer whoops assssssss.
