it's a machine basically. Like a big room size machine and they claimed it was responsible for all of the colored gazes and hazy mists in the universe (like exhaust fumes)

There's a section sort of like a beam that Thanos jumps into to obtain the power.

I'll see if I can take some pics of the comic later today when I get home. Try looking up pictures of "Marvel Universe: The End" on google. You might find some luck.
