Yeah, it's basically to protect friction rash and to provide a floatation device for those who can't swim well, once they hit the pool at the bottom, m'kay.

But for me, , I tend to surf the mat and get in trouble for 'standing', or I throw the mat ahead of me and try to catch up to it while riding bare-ass.

They give you a warning, but there's blind spots where the lifeguards can't see you, plus, in the tube slides they really can't see you at all.

I got kicked out of a waterslide park one time, but it was cuz we were hitting minature golf balls at the slides during the off-season, in a rain storm.
