the best horror comics are clive barkers comics. tapping the vein, hellraiser, decent of madness, nightbreed, ecto kid, and there are others. these are the only series that i have, and if you want gore, disturbing images, and a dark story look for these classics. There is also a dark comic by darkhorse called the blackburne covenant. that is a choice read. I would also recommend Thing from another world. there are plenty of bad ass horror comics out there, plenty better than a nightmare on elmstreet comic

Yeah, the "Hellraiser" comics were excellent. I read all of
them.
They were often disgusting, always disturbing. Unrelentingly
dark, though.

They print way too many copies of comics now a days for them to really be worth anything ... i would recommend buying them for the stories only
