Actually I wanted you guys to choose of those 5 I listed. Because those were the first heavey bands I remember listening to, and those were the big popular ones for a long time.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Dream Theater. They have to be in the top 5 for me. I know a lot of people don't like them for the same reason people didn't like Rush- too much going on in every song. But I like that approach.
