I just got out of my Sociology class and the topic came up about what the best age to lose one's virginity is. I was curious to know what you all think? I know this thread might close down because of the topic but eh it's worth a try nonetheless.

now you are asking for people to give unfounded personal ideas upon something that is very hard to establish scientificly cause it would require loads and loads of tests on a very large group of society.

tho in many countries in Africa the consensus age is younger (to illustrate my previous post)

Heck, in CANADA it is younger. But 16 is still considered to be the average point.

Well yeah it's obviously when you feel ready...but I think the age should be about 16, same as it is really...but if you feel ready before that and you've been with someone a long time then that's fine then I think.

Actually, it is surprising how many people do not know the legal age of consent in their area.

I have never actually met a single Canadian that knew it.

because to them it's probably not that big of deal info to know, besides most people only care about themselves in alot of cases so it's not at all surprising

i lost mine at 17 but i was in India at that time. It matters really. White students usually start much earlier then immigrant students in my area. Toronto Ontario! It matters really on the person but your average good kid i say 16, but females should wait atleast till 17 or 18. This isn't about equlaity but saftey. The truth is guys at young ages do a girl. End of story! However a girl at a young age may get pregent. That why i think female should do it around 17-18. Guys 16-17.

I think you shouldnt have sex unless it is with someone you have been with a while and you are over 17. Even if you have had a boyfriend/girlfriend for ages when you are under 17 you still arnt really mature enough.

Whenever you're ready. And I don't mean that a couple around 12 or 13 like to think themselves ready because they're not. I reckon the youngest age that you're mature enough is about 14-15.

It's probably been said already, but really there is no "ideal" age to loose ones virginity. Every person is different, sexual, mental and emotional maturity differ for everybody. Of course it seems the legal systems believe that the best age is 18 (or 16). However, these days it does seem a lot of people think more about 15 onwards.

I guess it really depends on the person...I personally would say 17 at the youngest.
