Let's pick you best distopia or dammed universe in a book

Dystopia is the best term (check it at wikkipedia), but it's kind a the worst utopia you can imagine. Closer example: 1984 "Big brother is watching you." Another one could be Matrix at the movies (until we reach the kung fu part, pick the Morpheus explanation about the desert which happens in front a TV.)

My pick is J.G. Ballard and Burroughs. J. Swift at the Gulliver travels could be the highest Dystopia (never reached again I think.)
A last vote for Jose Saramago (Essay about the Blindness) where all the world go into a Blindness transfered by the air.
