Question about Lex: the various different colored kryptonites that he had made...white, blue, etc. that all do different things. Do they exist in comic continuity or just in the Smallville TV show?

Also, I swear Lex had his own respect thread or something, but this was the closest I could find. DC's link is decent, but does anyone have info on Lex? A buddy asked me about him because he's hardcore into Smallville, but I don't know the first thing about Superman's continuity and rogues.

superman batman issue 46 has some info about different types of kryptonite, as does action annual 10 a while back...
