Future x men,episode whatever

hey,i was wondering,if (and only if)they went a few past x3,how about an apocalyptic(no pun) mood???saw the trailer for "the day after tommorrow" and liked the way a news report told us of a crisis-im not talking about aliens or even days of future past but maybe have the fallout of some warfare,anyone got any ideas on this?
obviusly itd be way way to much for x3 or even x4 if they did it
