I've been playing the violin for 12 to 13 years and recently I've been thinking about taking a guitar class for the fall semester in college. Now would my violin playing help me in some areas that would make me starting out on guitar seem a little more natural, instead of feeling like a toddler to it.

What other instruments might make the transition from one to another easier?

It might, for one thing you already learn how to read music, which is helpful for guitar. I've played cello since fourth grade, and it helped me pick up guitar... Though I'm not sure violin would be helpful in the same way.

Norma Jean
I was a classically trained pianist and it was really easy to trasfer to guitar and drums.
