So, if you could choose to live in any city in the world, where would it be? And notice I said live in, not visit.

I lived in Manhattan for a while. I loved it there. If I still had the money and resources, I'd live there again, any day.

Would like to visit tokyo. Japan is the fastest growing nation. tokyo is one of the lowest crime infested cities around. Not to mention the Japanese are superior in technology right now, i bet that would be interesting. The japanese also have strong morales values that have survived their entire existence.

LLG
I'm not sure. I would stay in the United States. Maybe, Los Angeles, even though it's crowded.

I find the idea of being a nameless, faceless, automaton
who works his ass off, hardly speaks to his children,
pinches girls' asses on subways, obsessively watches
violent-porn cartoon, and spends all his time building
the next robot pet, to be a very attractive life.

Or maybe Tunis/Palermo/Valletta/Cagliari, or any other
small(ish), quiet Mediterranean town.

botankus
Alright, you got me: Clayton, NC

Durham, UK
yes

What is the technical difference between a city and a town. i know that a city is bigger, and has to have goverment approval before it can have city status. But the word 'City' originally just referred to any place with a cathedral in it.

I'm pretty happy where I reside. We have the mountains with snow (winter) The desert, the beach, and a big forrest area. L.A. is good enough for me.

Silver Stardust
I live in Chicago, and I have to say I love it here...

I'd like to live in London or Tokyo, though...that would be pretty cool...

Linkalicious
Screw Los Angeles....Orange County. yes

Alpha Centauri
I know someone from there. Supposed to be really nice.

-AC

Linkalicious
Well...technically it's a county.

So I'd go with Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Fountain Valley, or Mission Viejo.

All of them are nice, most of them are close to the beach, no snow, little rain, mildly warm winters, hot sunny summers...best of all, unlike New York and Los Angeles....you get a front yard and backyard

Alpha Centauri
Not even gonna ask how much the properties cost.

Orange Country is the wealthiest place on the West Coast isn't it?

-AC

Linkalicious
It's the coast of California in general.

A fairly average 2 story 4-5 bedroom house with backyard and front yard in Southern California is going to run you upwards of $550,000-$750.

Newport Beach and Huntington Beach have gated communities with hundreds of houses over the million dollar mark.

I hear Northern California near San Francisco has pretty hefty prices for relatively "average" houses as well...

WindDancer
The OC is quite overrated as far as wealth. Santa Barbara is much more nicer.

Thats cheap compared to the current prices in London.

Alpha Centauri
Prices of apartments down the road from me are skyrocketing. Coz of all the development around the Docklands area etc.

Actually those prices are way up over the past couple of years due to the growth in Orange County.

It's still a relatively undeveloped area in comparison to Los Angeles or San Diego.

And the million + houses really aren't that special....they're just highly priced in good neighborhoods.

There's been A LOT of new housing in the past 10 years.

are u guys smokin'

The best city in the world is New York City.

EAST SIDE!!!

Linkalicious
Here I am spouting off about OC housing....heh...it's not even the best reason why Orange County is such a nice place to live.

It's the women.

silver_tears
They cost more than the houses yes

Linkalicious
them and their damn Luis Vetton bags! mad

silver_tears
Louis Vuitton stick out tongue

Linkalicious
I'm grateful I don't know how to spell that son of a b!tch's name. This girl at my work has a purse the size of 1/2 my forearm and she said it cost her $500.

Shit, i wouldn't pay that much for Batman's utility belt much less a purse/wallet. Or WOULD I? shifty

silver_tears
Jessica Simpson's cost 2000 easily happy

Lana
I would never pay that much for a purse...

charmedFairy
London, hamburg, sydney or venicehappy

ChickinMeat
Hmmm, thats a toughie, all i know is i never want to live in london as long as i live, the quiet town i used to live in had an awful crime rate and a curfew for kids, and thats a seaside resort town, donw even want to think of london.

Maybe i would move back to canada, as i used to live there as a kid, but the place i used to live not even canadians have heard of.

But for the sakes of the thread, i shall choose Barcelona, its one place ive actually visited. i dont travel much

Imperial_Samura
Hmmm, I am living in Sydney at the moment, and I really find it a great place to live, and would probably be happy here for some time to come. Beyond that some the old historically rich European cities appeal, Venice, London and so on.

Maybe Istanbul as well (well it was once Constantinople)

s|m
Vienna, Barcelona, and probably New York.

Bucharest is nice city to live in happy. Surprisingly, it has a lower crime rate than most 'major' cities no expression, and the prices are acceptable.

I've visited Sydney and I'd say it would be a great place to live, though I haven't lived there. Same with Brisbane. Houses on the Brisbane River go for 2-3 million AU$, last I heard, though that's waterfront real estate. Other housing shouldn't be too expensive, as the same kind of land here in Florida would go for at least 300,000USD, and that, I think, is a real lowball estimate.

Rounding up the Australia list would be Cairns. I hate cold weather.

But for me, I think somewhere in Wales would be the perfect place.

midnite127
I dunno...maybe New York, beautiful skyline, night life, etc.

But considering I already's lives there, I'd say Venice, Italy. Always wanted to see the canals happy

New York City ya!!!!!

EAST SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never saw what was so great about NYC on any of the couple dozen times I visited.... and I have been to all the boroughs.... the best, of course, was, Manhattan, however, even Pareis beats the piss out of NYC IMO... could someone try and enlighten me? Perhaps its that I don't live there...
