As part of my english aural i have to take part in an english debate and my topic is do graphic movies have too much influence on peoples actions and should they banned? im against the banning and im guessing no one here wants them banned but why do you like them so much (please help me i only have today and tommorro to prepare!)

When in doubt, plagiarize.

And, if all of those opinions sound too "professional", here are some kids' perspectives:

If someone wants to move to ban violent movies, then they better ban the evening news as well.

Horror movies traditionally get an R rating. That is to help prevent the few impressionable kids from buying/renting them themselves. The fact is, the PARENT should be teaching the child right from wrong. Including explaining things if they allow there child to view a questionable movie. Cable boxes have had the features to lock out channels for years and years. So censorship is always in the hands of the parent.

Not all, but most horror movies have the traditional "Hollywood Endings" where good prevails over evil in the end. This should indirectly help reinforce that you cant get away with doing bad things.

hmm cant really think of other points right now.

It's not the potential impact from movies that scare me. It's the people who have the inability to separate fiction from reality that do!

right, im only 14, ive seen some of the most violent movies out :holocaust, ferox and so on.
i see someone cutting a guy in half with a chainsaw, stabbing them ith a knife, and all this other crap.
i could go into the kitchen and pick up a knife.
do i?
no.
there are reasons why i dont
1 not that sick
2 i wouldnt kill just anyone, they have to p*ss me off real bad
3 i know of the consequences (my neighbour was murdered, and that tore his family apart.)
4 i think violent films are a way of getting rid off all that.
i come home, really mad cos some stupid ass teacher gave me half hour detention and horror or other violent films really release that from me.
5 i also dont really see the point...
6 you cannot see anything on movies more violent and damaging then people jumping from the wtc, or when a bbc (english) newspatrol was bombed in baghdad, and all the other mainstream news and general life violence.
KEEP OUR MOVIES!!!

So if I p*ssed you off badly enough, would you try to kill me? wink

"I let my impressionable twelve-year old watch an R-rated movie about a guy who cuts out other people's hearts, and it negatively effected him! This is clearly the fault of the people who made the movie!" Bleh. Parents need to take responsibility.

But frankly, egmayo, "i wouldnt kill just anyone, they have to p*ss me off real bad" isn't very reassuring.

eggmayo
no, i mean like if they killed my mum and dad or something
