Xmen comics

Hello!

Im pretty new to the x-men world.
When I first saw the movies last year I was hooked! But I had no plans to read the comics, i though watching the movies would be much better. But then later i found out that there is a whole universe involving x-men. All that will never fit in a movie, so its better if i start reading the comics, but i have a problem. There are so many different stories, different titels and all, i looked for a list, everything from #1 till.. where they are now.. but couldn´t find one. Maybe i looked in all the wrong places, dont know, but im totally lost so i thought i should ask for help here. Does anybody have some kind of list that says in which order i should start reading? i would really appreciate it.

wow...that is a bit of a problem....there's over a a thousand x-men comic that have been produced....and there's the different titles, but i would recommend these three:
X-men
Uncanny
Astonishing (newest)

but i think it'll take you years for you to read every comic to get the low down on the characters...so my advise is that you go to a marvel encyclopeida and get a brief bio on the main characters

PM pr1983 and/or Sage Tessa ...they are the most informed x-men readers i know
