Can't say I'm too excited by the footage, though. When I first heard of it being the biggest SW space battle to date, and saw some clips in the teaser trailer, I was really vibing on the idea... however, I think it's too bombastic. Remember in ANH and ROTJ, the Death Star battles were almost B&W, because of all the metal, with just the reddish engines on the X-Wings and the laser beams. I think things like composition and flow are quite important in action scenes like this. It's not just about filling the screen with as many ships, lasers and explosions as possible. Also the ship design is getting more and more unnecessesary over-complicated. You could draw X-Wings and TIE with four lines on a sheet of paper, the design was simple, memorable and worked well. These new fighters, I'll call them SIX-wings are just too overcomlicated I think.

It's like comparing the battles of Hoth and Geonosis: Hoth had like what, four walkers? which gave a clear view on the battle and some very beautiful shots. Geonosis had really nice moments as well, but was generally about overkill as well. It has been said and discussed before, but here I go again: the PT is too much about "look what we can do" and not "this is all we need to do".
Also the stormtroopers in the OT, really basic and simply white, which provided some nice images, and then further on we got to see sand- and snowtroopers and biker scout, variations. Now, the Clone Troopers have all these gadgets and different rank colors. It's nice to have some diversity, however you have to know when to quit.

Still, nice to see the battle, thx again, I'm sure I'm overreacting here, and the final space battle will have lots of great moments in the cinema...

Yeah that's true, the blending and all. And we can follow the ships through the explosions and follow them sweeping much better than possible before. I just think there to much detail and paint and stuff on the fighters.

You know, this is just my first impression seeing these few seconds... I'll have to see the finished film first before I'll settle with this opinion.

It might be even be better for all I know, it's just my personal opinion that a lot of times less is more, which doesn't mean you can't have a bigger space battle or lightsaber duel than before. It's just a little of the old craftmanship missing. They couldn't achieve anyhing they wanted in 77 or 83, so they had to find creative ways around that, making sacrifices and doing things in other ways. Now, they practically CAN do anything, so they sometimes loose grip on themselves (I don't blame them, I don't know if I could hold myself down)

Conversely, I am admittedly overexcited....but maybe its BECAUSE it has been 22 years since a battle even close to ROTJ

Yea Plegueis...come on, Lucas has many times said that its a more elegant and "new" time. These battles are the reason the galaxy as we know it in Episodes 4-6 is in the condition it is in. These battles need to be huge and extremely disastrous.

No one's commented on the music. I'm assuming that's the new score in the space battle.

I've been talking about it with a few people, seems awesome. I love the constant beats. The clicky instrument, whatever it is, is a bit overused in some parts of the movies, I've noticed (Ep I&II) but, hey, minor detail

I noticed in the "EVEN CRAZIER!!.avi" video that there's also some new footage of the OSB that wasn't in the OSB compilation someone make. It's at the 28sec mark, less then a second worth I think. Short but nice looking from what I could tell.

I didn't notice anyone else mention it, so I thought I would.

Also, judging from the 13secs of OSB, looks like the EpIII teaser trailer had 2 snippets from that last shot in the 13 secs preview. After the last Vader shot, and the last shot in the teaser, which is actually flipped in the teaser which is a bit odd.

I've got a good feeling about this.

mine was corrupted ....just the first 3 seconds, then it froze and just played the audio....i was looking forward to seeing it when i came home all day....it was the 11 meg version so be wary of that one....i wish people would stop referring to mpeg's as WMP format, WMP format is totally different to mpeg (stands for motion picture engineers group or something, nothing to do with microsoft)....hope that doesn't read too harsh, it's not meant to....anyway, i'll try this one, and 3 meg looks like a nice size....thanks for the link vanyoda....maybe i will finally get to see this thing.....
