Deano
nice song thumb up

Deathblow
It still oh-so-dull.

Although on the plus side, Cornell appears to be aging like wine.

Cinemaddiction
Weak.

Df02
imo Audioslave are nowhere near the sum of their parts

Cinemaddiction
Well, they did the same thing when their album debuted. Aired all the radio friendly songs first, then dished out the heavy RATM/Soundgardn-ish stuff like "How To Live".

That's what I've always thought.

Darth Revan
Heard it on the radio already. Nice, but boring. Unfortunately.

Honestly, when I first heard it, I thought it was some jackass copying Tom Morello's style and some other jackass copying Chris Cornell's style... How sad...

Alpha Centauri
I like the song, the guitar solo is really good and as Def said, Cornell just keeps sounding better.

I'm looking forward to the album.

Darth Revan
Anybody have the new album yet?

RedAlertv2
I heard the song. It was alright, but nothing amazing imo.

StinkFist462
i dont like Audioslave at all but this song is ok

MildPossession
I couldn't stand their first album except for Like A Stone. But a friend said the second album is a lot better than the first.

Listening to the whole thing now to see.

Darth Revan
Honestly I don't get what everybody thinks is so bad about their first album, I agree that it can be a bit dull in parts, but that doesn't account for people saying it sucks. Cochise and Show Me How to Live could easily be Rage songs if not for the vocals... So what's with all these old Rage fans saying Audioslave sucks? Yes, like I said, there are a couple songs that are a little boring, but it has enough good songs to more than make up for that.

MildPossession
I for one didn't say it sucks. Just couldn't stand/get into it. Cochise was a song I couldn't get into at all, found it quite boring to listen to.

Victor Von Doom
I loved the first album, love this one as well. I think the band suffer from listeners bringing their prejudices.

MildPossession
I prefer the second album to the first album by miles, I actually like the second album, Yesterday To Tomorrow is a fabulous song, their single Be Yourself is rather good also, it reminds me of the band Ruby Horse, especially in the vocals.

Victor Von Doom
The vocals rather remind me of the guy from Soundgarden.

MildPossession
yes....

Victor Von Doom
Yep.

MildPossession
I was just saying his vocals in the certain song reminded me of the vocalist from Ruby Horse in the way he sings the lyrics.

Victor Von Doom
I haven't even heard that band. I was just making an unrelated stupid comment out of boredom.

hayden's minx
Not as good as some audioslave - but I quite like it, although maybe it was better suited as an album track. Guitar is goodness though.

Lana
I've heard it, the album is very good....I think they've certainly shaken off influences from RATM and Soundgarden now, and have grown into their own.

And I love the song Be Yourself stick out tongue

Darth Revan
Sadly, Rage is truly dead now... I know it's wrong of me to want Audioslave to be Rage, but... *sniff* sad rip

Benjio
Rage were so much better, but Audioslave are different. I guess they can kind of relax and look back at what they've done, its fantastic. Audioslave I think are doing really well, the riffs are interesting and they have changed a lot, but I still like it. YtimK still rules.

Darth Revan
Tim Commerford wink

Seriously, i dont see whats wrong with it, its a decent song.

Though thats just my personal opinion.

ESP07
The song is alright, but unfortunaty i've heard it abot 10,000 time on the radio and I am sick of it.

Darth Revan
I like it... But it does get a little tiring after a while. And yes, Tim Commerford kicks ass.

Benjio
I think its good, not as good as Cochise, but its still good to listen to. Cochise has never gotten old, which I think is good, this one I'm not sure about, but i do really like the solo in the middle of it, i dunno why.

Please tell me you're kidding.

Dr. Strangelove
Doom is kidding.

I like Be Yourself. It's nothing special but it has a nice soothingness to it.

Haven't picked up their new album but I've been recently been listening to their first and it has been growing on me.

cad
well i thought the song was alright and i dont even like audioslave.

I dunno why, but everytime I hear Audioslave, the only thing I feel is hunger for some RATM.

It's like Audioslave are nothing but an appetiser for RATM's main course.

I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I get the feeling RATM were "whole". RATM as a whole were greater than the sum of their parts, wheras Audioslave are just a sum of their parts.

On paper, Audioslave should be amazing, but there's something that just doesn't 'click'.

Alpha Centauri
That's to you.

To me, it clicks perfectly well.

People always say they don't like them because they aren't Rage. Clearly overlooking the fact that they are actually a different band making different music.

Lana
I really have to say that after hearing their new album, I really can't compare them to Rage anymore.

OK, cool, Well I should have said I was speaking out of ignorance really, since I've only listened to the first album.

So, is the new album worth it? I guess i'll have to go and have a listen cos I was a bit dissapointed with the first album.

I get what you're saying, but at the same time, I think your logic is a little skewed. If somebody likes Rage, but not Audioslave, it doesn't mean they're upset that the three former members of Rage are a different band making different music. It could mean they just don't like Audioslave, in the same way they might like Metallica but not Slayer. Period. Not everybody who doesn't like Audioslave says that because they associate them with Rage.

Personally, I like the new album alright, though I haven't gotten to listen to it much. I wasn't sure about "Be Yourself" when it first came out but I really like it now, so... We'll see.

However, I still have to say that Audioslave are not near as good as Rage. And I DON'T mean just "not Rage," I mean "not as good as". RS is right when he says that Rage had something that's just not there with Audioslave. Note that I'm not upset that they are not playing the same kind of music anymore. You could pick up a Rage album you'd never heard before and immediately like it. Oftentimes a whole lot. I just don't get that with Audioslave. Not only are they not Rage, they're just not as good.

Alpha Centauri
That doesn't disprove the fact that people dislike them because they aren't Rage, it happens.

You believing they're not as good is opinion. I believe, at their best, they're better.

-AC

BackFire
Audioslave just doesn't do it for me, I've heard a few of their songs and just kinda shrug them off, they're not bad, but they aren't very memorable to me.

No, but at the same time you can't assume that about everyone, which from what I've seen you tend to.

And yes, it is opinion, though as I said I may get to like their new album more with a few more listens. I don't like a lot of bands right away.
