Is This True???

Hello all,
A couple of years ago, I was asked to make a short, 10 minute speech in English class on anything that I liked. And so, naturally, 007 came to mind ...
Whilst doing some research for it, I read something rather interesting. According to some magazine tie-in for Bond 20, Bond was actually KILLED in one of Fleming's novels {in "you only live twice", I think}, and then brought back as a zombified hitman in another {which I believe was "TMWTGG"}; apparantly, like Bond being widowed, it was a sign of Fleming's boredom with the character. Is this true? Can any literate-minded JB fans help me out? Thanks.

Reborn Again
It was actually his clone.

Sort of true. Ian Flemming "killed" Bond at the end of "You Only Live Twice." He apparently actually intended to end the franchise there, but ended up changing his mind (shades of Sherlock Holmes). We learn in "The Man With the Golden Gun" that Bond survived, but was captured by the enemy. He was brainwashed by them, and TMWTGG begins with him being sent back to England kill M. He fails, and is captured by his own people, who deprogram him.

Thanks Greg! Say - that plot would probably make a pretty good Bond movie in itself ...
I wonder why the magazine tie-in said that he came back as a "zombie" then. Perhaps they were talking metaphorically ...
In that case, was "TMWTGG" the last Bond novel Fleming ever wrote?

Are you just guessing there? 'Cos what Greg said disagrees with that ...

Yes. Actually, Fleming died before he could finish it; it was completed by another, unknown author (but the stuff I mentioned happened in the beginning of the book, so that was Fleming).
Ahnold
Wow. I never knew that. Does it sound really disjointed then {because of the input of two authors}?
Gregory
I didn't think so, although it's been a while since I've read it. Looking around the internet, it looks like Fleming actually died after writing the rough draft, which was than edited by someone else, so it wouldn't be disjointed--the story is all Fleming's, if the writing isn't. It's one of my favorite books, but a lot of other people seem to really hate it.
yerssot
wow,... never knew that one greg
guess "zombie" works in some way of the word
Clovie
erm..zombie is not only a alive-deadman but it is also used to express the state of mind...that someone's brainless....as if..empty..with no feelings/soul/brain
yerssot
see, I was right

Clovie
yeah..

guess so
yerssot
damn straight

Clovie
it is that part when i praise you?

yerssot
*checks script*
yeah, it says right here... but this isn't the latest version that I got

Clovie
they didn't send me this scene at all, can you imagine?

yerssot
perhaps they thought you had it already?
Clovie
possible... or they though that my part is so unimportant that as well i can have no script

yerssot
but this scene is with you

Clovie
i know. but they've forgot about me

yerssot
perhaps you're getting fired soon?
yerssot
go find a new one now you still have time
Clovie
no i don't.

yerssot
but if you don't, you won't have money anymore

Clovie
someone will have to give me some then

yerssot
get a job

Clovie
i don't have tme for it

Clovie
yes it is. it was zombie

yerssot
like the song

Clovie
in your head?

yerssot
well, it's not on the computerscreen
Clovie
that would be strange.
yerssot
but the thread says she is
Clovie
who do you mean by 'she'?
yerssot
thread isn't female?
Clovie
in polish it's male...
yerssot
cause it can't go bitchy?

Clovie
i guess it can....
but we have genders of words... as german der/die/das, but here it depends from the word ending... eg. when it ends with 'a' it is usually female, with 'o' usually neutrum, and with 'k,d,m' etc usually male

Clovie
exactly.

yerssot
that's true

Clovie
that's bad?

Clovie
good then

yerssot
just as long as we agree on the topic
Clovie
of course

yerssot
so it wasn't true

Clovie
depends what you understand by truth

Ahnold
So is it true? Uh huh, pretty much. Case closed ...

Would've been an interesting idea, eh? No, I am kidding! G is correct.
yerssot
RA... that's not funny

how come I suddenly have the feeling that we'll see Bond getting cloned in CR?

Clovie
okay... wasn't the cloning thing done before?

Clovie
i remember scene..
some house in mountains and a cloning mashine there...

and he went into it and got cloned and later the clones had disappeared

yerssot
an operation, yes, but not cloning ...I think
Clovie
so how am i remember that scene?

Ahnold
Are we still talking about James Bond here???
yerssot
yeah

Clovie
we are.
and there was a bald guy too!!!!
and i'm sure it was a bond movie.

Blofeld?
Blofeld got a double once in DAF yeah, but not a clone

Clovie
there was a lot of him

and then bond clonned himself too so he could better fight with him

yerssot
yeah... you saw Casino Royal, the spoof I believe
Clovie
really?

it was ages ago.
yerssot
did it had Woody Allen?
yerssot
perhaps it was austin powers?
Clovie
i haven't seen those.

yerssot
then it must be the spoof

Ahnold
Woody Allen WAS in "Casino Royale" ...
And Austin Powers didn't feature cloning. Clovie, you must have seen "CR" ...
Reborn Again
Might you be thinking a distorted version of DAF? In the beginning Bond killed one of Blofeld's clones by throwing him into a vat of hot clay and turning up the heat. Perhaps that's what you mean?
Clovie

i don't know.

Ahnold
Of course they haven't made the updated "CR" yet! I'm talking about the old 1967 spoof starring David Niven and Woody Allen {which I haven't seen} ...
Clovie
and there was clonning? coz i have no idea if it was that or not..
yerssot
it can ONLY be the spoof then
Clovie
ok.
aparently i've seen CR

yerssot
yes, as said: the spoof of '67
Clovie
it is very very weird..
i wasn't even born in 67 cry
yerssot
helloooooooooooooo videotapes
Clovie
what? where? who?
i've seen it in TV

Clovie
it was rather new that time

yerssot
in the sixties yes

Clovie
i didn't watch it in sixties

if i remember correctly bond-movies were prohibited here that time
yerssot
yeah, oh drads that communism

Clovie
i'm serious.
they said it is capitalistic {somecrap word}....same as cocacola btw

yerssot
damn straight, cause as always the russians were the enemy

Clovie
nonono...the nato was the enemy.
and capitalism was evil.
yerssot
and that got of course a lot of propaganda in the movies

Clovie
but it showed the brits and americans as good ones. and Mi6 was the enemy

yerssot
it never showed russia as the bad guys though, mostly it was SPECTRE or a raving lunatic

Clovie
erm.... *points living daylights* wasn't the guy escaping from kgb?
yerssot
yeah, but it was still a set-up for Brad Withaker and himself
Clovie
and for me aparently. i really thought kgb was hunting them
Clovie
so who was the real enemy there?
yerssot
themselves

Clovie
mi6?

yerssot
no, that defecting KGB agent and Brad
Clovie
oh.... i remember now.
yerssot
or see the movie again
Clovie
i even have it

yerssot
see it again then

Clovie
maybe after weekend.
yerssot
why not now?

yerssot
it's the topic

Clovie
i know

yerssot
it's ontopic even

Clovie
coz it is truth

yerssot
we can conclude this topic then

yerssot
closed

yerssot
it's not working cry
Clovie
that can be done dev
