I know it sounds simialar but since I an is older well ya know. He sounds the same but an old fart type of same. I dont think he can pull it off now as good as he could back in 1983.

Why is it that in Germany they mostly have to dub voices???
Just a point I still don't understand since mothernature gave me ears!!!
LanİeWindu
For the people that don't understand English I guess, even though I'd rather watch a foreign film with subtitles.
Morridini
If a country decides to dub a movie or subtitle it is decided by how many percentage of the population who can't read/write. That's why they dub movies in France, Italy, Germany etc. Because of all the an alphabets.

I think Ian is doing good things with his voice. He's playing with pitch and ferocity of it. His Emperor voice sounds more "hungary" than in ROTJ. Like he MEANS, "Show no mercy!"
I dont know, i like it...
Lord Banshee
I dunno but it seems he's doing his emperor lines (as "show no mercy"

with a brittish accent. And he's saying it very slow..
But it sounds mean

The points about the dubbing-voices I knew, but it's just...I still don't understand.
I like Germany very much, the language is quick to learn, but(no offense)...I'll never watch a movie in German again.
I mean in Holland, no movies are ever dubbed in our language(thank heaven no, that would be really painfull), unless it's a kids-movie and that already sounds ridiculous.
And even they are shown in the Original version if you choose it.
In Holland every movie is subtitled.
Perhaps the dubbing in other countries comes from a pure idealism of wanting the people to keep in touch with their own language.
The Dutch language is already becoming a mixture of Dutch, English and French>for some it's good, others feel like our language gets sickened!
Oh and ahhhh> Ian sounds not older, but younger with an evil low pitch to his younger Emperor-voice.
It sounds terrifying, it sounds awesome!!!!!

Thats why i love to live at the border (Ger/B/NL)...
I dont know why few people speak or understand english well, most of the germans dont. Me, for example, is the only one in my family/at my work, whos watching the original stuff in english. The others say they dont understand a thing...
And i have listening problems too. Sometimes they speak too fast or with such an accent that i dont understand anything.
And if you dont know the original sound, the german synchro fits very nice. But in comparison nothing beats the original...
I think the Dutch are more international at all, so english fits there too.

Morridini
Here in Norway it's like in Netherlands. All movies are subtitled instead of dubbed. The only movies which are dubbed are children movies, but they also happens to have the original version on the tape as well as the dubbed one. But most of my friends and I like to turn of the subtitling (when watching DVD) as we all understand English and the subtitling takes a annoyingly big part of the screen (not really, but it sometimes seem like that).
